I know the current State is South Carolina, but I saw very few photos of Iowa. So here are a few more.
Muscatine, IA
Muscatine, Iowa, was known as the "Pearl Button Capital of the World" in the early 1900s. The city produced over 1.5 billion mother-of-pearl buttons annually, accounting for more than one-third of the world's supply at its peak, using mussel shells harvested from the Mississippi River.

The Good Shepherd is a masterpiece which has been described as the Twenty-Third Psalm in glass is a memorial to D. N. Cooley and his wife, Clara Aldrich Cooley. This window was exhibited at the Columbian Exposition in 1893 by the Tiffany Company as its finest production in glass, and was purchased later for the church by Judge Cooley’s family. The face of the Good Shepherd, seen in profile, makes an ideal portrait of Christ who gave His life for His sheep. The window was installed in 1896.

The battle of White Bird was fought in 1877. Although the Nez Perce routed the Calvary from Spalding, it was the beginning of a losing war. White Bird, Idaho

I was in Idaho twice in the late 80s. Boise twice and Sun Valley once. I don't know where my prints are, but i have this one scanned photo of me ready to go up in a hot air balloon. It was the 80s so go a head and laugh at me.

John Day Fossil Beds -
Painted Hills Unit, Oregon, U.S.A.

The Painted Hills are composed mostly of claystone layers, which include ancient soils and lake beds. The surface of the hills have weathered and softened to clay. The claystones were formed by several events and processes. Over 30,000,000 years ago, volcanoes from ancestral Cascade Mountains, 1 00 miles to the west, slowly deposited layer after layer of cooled ash. Plants and animals churned and tilled the surface, and air oxidized the ash. Ground water flowed, leaching and redistributing minerals. Over time, the ashfall became soil, later buried under hundreds of feet of deposits. Compaction, cementation, and recrystallization processes occurred. The original ashfalls were thus changed structurally and chemically, resulting in hard and colorful stone.

The Timberline Lodge at Mt. HoodThe Timberline Lodge is famous for being featured in the movie "The Shining". Only the outside structure of the building was used in the film. The interior scenes in the movie are from another hotel in Colorado. There is no hedge maze outside this building as depicted in the movie. Here are real views of the exterior of the Lodge.

Not a photo I shot, but this is typical of the waves crashing at Shore Acres Park near Coos Bay.
