I hope they find something. With all the time and money you spent on diagnosing this I'd be hesitant to trust it if it's still ticking after they put it back together.

just saying my neighbor been building 100 s of engine and ran into the same problem after couple hundred mile started making the same noise after checking all the basic it always ended being the lifters. after 5 or 6 engines. changing out the lifter to a different brand he hasn't had any any issues after 20 engines. quality went to **** with the lifters, hes been installing the same lifters for countless engines. its not LS engines but same problem. if it was me . you already have access to the lifter i would change them if the heads come back good. there's nothing to lose the work has been done.

Sorry to hear about the issue, especially after having work done. It sounds to me like 100% valve train problem.

On my LS7 the sewing machine noise meant the heads were bad. I know this because when I bought mine I noticed the sewing machine engine noise of the valve train. The service department said it was fine. Yeah, 35k mi and boom. When I got my car back 4 weeks later, no sewing machine noise.

On your engine I'd expect a dropped valve very soon. I would think the heads were machined wrong and LS7 experts that tried to fix the heads didn't know what the problem was or the proper fix. But they know how to charge a CC and blow smoke up your ***.

the heads were done by LPE, so i feel like they definitely know what they were doing, but things mistakes happen. He called them and they couldn't explain it. They are putting new heads on it as we speak. Should be done this week so hopefully everything will be g2g now. Very frustrating and expensive tho... I went to a highly recommended shop 6 hours away to try to give me the best chance at avoiding stuff like this. It's cost a fortune just in travel and shipping the car back amd forth. Fingers crossed this is the last time

well, there has been zero mention or discussion on any cost, so i would assume he's taking care of it. By law, they have to quote me or discuss and get my approval before they do any work over $100, so if they charge me, its against the law and could take it to court. More money to hire an attorney and I really don't want that, so hope not. He seems like a good guy, so hopefully he does whats right and it doesn't come to that.
