What did you do to your C3 today?
I never did this before and was super cautious.
I degreed the cam, used clay on the pistons to determine clearance. I chose Edelbrock 5073 heads with a 70cc chamber to replace the 186 heads that had been relieved to 68cc. It was a tight fit and I tried different gaskets but in the end went with the standard 7733P2. I also switched over to a Pertronix 2 Ignitor in the original DR distributor and used a Flamethrower 3 coil. Tell you what, when I hit the starter holding my inline spark checker YOWZA ! The remaining 14 hairs on my head stood straight up, good grief that thing's got ZAP. Filled it with Lucas Break In Oi, primed the engine with a drill on the new pump and rolled it outside. Primed the carb.
It fired on the first shot ! It actually startled me ! Man, I was worried about it and in two seconds got immediate validation ! I gave it 30 minutes @ 1800-2200 RPM. It leaved oil like a sieve on the passenger side and that had me worried. It was a cool day and the thermostat did eventually open but at a glance it seems to be running much cooler than before. Once I got it back in the garage (under its own power thankfully) and it cooled down I see it's the valve cover gasket ! Whew ! When I did the rear main seal it was so easy I was worried it was too easy but I guess not. I used a magnetic drain plug and it has a little bit of metallic slurry but no chunks, slivers, loose change, that spoon I lost, none of that
I used distilled water and want to fill & drain the system a couple times before I put in antifreeze. I still have to retorque everything and check the valvetrain but I think I got the successful break in I needed ! I was worried about Breaking Bad

Haven't been around much, mostly enjoying the car for the three seasons
I can actually drive it.
Anyway, not much on the calendar today, so I decided to put a HomeLink opener in the
sun visor.

After
So I had this visor from a 2021 Mustang that I had used on my 2021 Bronco, purchased from a scrap
yard for $75.00 because FORD wanted $400.00 for an OEM unit that wasn't available during Covid.
Finally bit the bullet and purchased the proper Ford unit in 2024 because it's waterproof (Bronco, wtf).
So I had this black unit sitting around, ripped it out of the mustang visor, and painted the switch cover
with dye to match the visor cover, ran the wires out the left mounting rod opening,
thru a hole I drilled in the header mounting molding down the door frame into the fuse block area and
picked out a live 12v male tab on the block. Put a 3 amp fuse in line with the power wire.
Took 3 hours total. No more latch-type opener falling off the visor anymore.
I have a new 360lb fiberglass rear spring and 4 shocks on order, just waiting for arrival.
Should've been here already, but I got bait-and-switched by Corvette Central.
In stock when ordered, back ordered after order accepted

Car is horrible over train tracks and bumpy roads. Hoping to improve the ride somewhat.
Have a good one.

Now I really need to get the side trim pieces mounted, and 3D print some hubcaps.
