Locking Fuel Filler Door

It appears the funnel will let you get past the trap door but there are safeguards further down that prevent you from getting a hose all the way into the tank.
Has anyone successfully used a syphon hose to remove fuel?

I agree the removal of this feature is more than concerning. I don’t see any reference to purchasing an actuator replacement to serve C8 models that have this feature and I believe if the harness is unmodified from those generations, a simple plug and play effort may still also remain functional. Another member responded that some countries require a locking fuel door so Chevrolet’s support for overseas models complying with that feature could well remain intact. I’m expressing wishful thinking but hopefully with some merit.

This is for Ford/Lincoln! It is $29. Or wait for the one with Corvette Logo from GM for $75!

The good news..with the low profile it fits under the C8 door.
The bad news is the locking mechanism won't work on a C8.
The plunger (or whatever you want to call ir) will sort of fit in the opening but its too wide at the top. It won't even sit on top properly.
The top would be a good part to use for a faux unit...basically to discourage anyone who opens the door...they may not test the lock itself, but you'd have to epoxy a thinner bottom on it or use a Dremel Tool to modify the stock unit.
They showed me their 2026 Colorado parts truck..it top is capless but has very different opening (Why GM?).
I ordered one of the official GM accessories from them. Unlike the one pictured above, ot is just a cap...think of a cap on a spray paint can or old fashioned shave cream can. There is a key lock at the 7o'clock position. That engages a lip..which the C8 does have, so it might work.
They'll get it in next week. If it fits, I'll keep it.
I'll let you know.

Has anyone been able to find the fuel door lock actuator part? I could not.
Has anyone been able to find the fuel door lock actuator part? I could not.
My C6 did have a locking door but this is what is what a search said: "The stock electronic fuel door is known to fail or fail to stay closed, sometimes requiring manual access via a pull cord in the rear cargo area. Recall that pull cord in the hatch!
During my two C7 ownership, saw many posts re locking door lid NOT unlocking: Quoting Google: "A common C7 failure point is the electric gas door actuator solenoid, which can leave the fuel door locked, making it impossible to fill up. The gas door can be opened by accessing the actuator rod through the rear passenger wheel well liner. Many owners bypassed this system by placing a small plastic fastener (scrivet) in the latch hole to prevent it from locking permanently.(After seeing many forum posts, ONE time had it happen to me when ready to fill my tank. Fortunately by cycling the lock/unlock a number of times on my FOB it opened. Recall I drive home with the gas door open AND I ADDED A SCRIVET!)
Perhaps after failures with the C6 (where at least they had a pull cord access) ; C7 (with no easy way to get the gas door open) and now some reports of the same with the C8, GM said heck: For those folks who want a Lock, they can do as Ford owner's do- buy one. We save some money on each car!
However they did miss a revenue opportunity. Instead of quietly taken it out mid 2026, they should have contacted the folks who make these "Locks" for other capless filler cars and asked then to make one for the C8.
Then announce we have a dealer sourced accessory WITH Corvette logo for $75! So seeing one you can buy for $12, GM would probably pay $5 and at $75 retail $37 Dealer cost a nice margin!

This one for Ford is $12 on Amazon.

They put locks on their cheaper cars, but take it off their halo car?
A world class sports car tainted by the organization that gave you the Vega.
As JerryU said they could make a few bucks.
I won't even use it most of the time since the car resides in a locked garage, but when I go into town or travel I want the security.
Like a lot of other places, the large town near me, which I avoid as much as possible, if filled with folks who think anyone with anything nice is fair game. And the local politicians and DA, knowing where their votes come from, have basically given up enforcing property crimes or vandalism.
