If I ever upgrade my E-Ray, it will be for a GSX at my local dealer at or below MSRP. Otherwise, I will just keep my E-Ray. Besides, I would like to wait at least a year to see how that new engine works out.

Well the electric ray is a stingray on steroids in nature so the name fit the theme. However, the timing and marketing were definitely all sorts of wrong. Maybe GM can log that one under it seemed like a good idea at the time. Selfishly I am glad they did not move or I would not have gotten the deal I got. I have a funny feeling the GSX will move and we won't see significant mark downs off MSRP in future. Maybe a last year one in dealer stock when they announce the C9.

GM always builds more than there is demand for in the bread and butter configurations, GS/GSX will be no different — same as it ever was.

Just got in touch with Mike at the suggestion of this group; seems like a nice enough guy but his refusal to share how many folks are already on his list is bizarre to me. Supposedly my "folder" has been created and I'm (somewhere?) in line now.

Looking to get on some additional GSX lists so I reached out to him; thanks for the suggestion.

I talked to Criswell, created my "folder" and was told 120ish on the list.

I am over 120 on MM's list. I am first on 3 local dealers and 2nd on another. May the first call win.

My local dealers will not commit to not doing an ADM and I will not pay an ADM.

Any input appreciated, feel free to message me.

Been in the C3 world for 34 years. Going to treat myself for my 60th birthday.
I had my 80 C3 for 31 years. Looked at new C5, then new C6 neither did much for me. Looked at the 14 C7 and had to have it. Sold my C3 2 years latter as it just sat. In a 18 Grand Sport now. Had a 2020 C8 on order, however canceled it in February 2020 as I was diagnosed with cancer December 2019 and I knew I was going to loose my job because of it.

It will probably be later this year but going to order a GS or GSX

I think youll see the same low volume production with the hybrid vettes youve seen with Zr1x and E-Ray.

I was offered the first GSX allocation at my local dealer (I am on the GS list) but I turned it down. I don't want to spend the money on the GSX right now and convertibles are on restraint so that was the other nail in the coffin having to commit to a coupe. I can't imagine the lists will be all that long once people's orders become real.

Good to hear. I definitely want an HTC.

I am over by Destin so may have to drive to Tally to see what the dealers there will do for me. The P'Cola dealers were all talking ADM. That is a no go.

I kind of wish GM did away with the allocation system. Orders go in. First come, first served based on availability of components. That is what Ford did with my Super Duty. Had to wait 6 months for it to get built but 100% worth it.

Hmm, GM ONLY builds what dealer's order. They build NOTHING for inventory! There are NO C8s in BG that belong to GM!

Now dealer's may over purchase more for THEIR inventory ONCE end customer demand is filled. GM usually gives build priority to end customer orders. When I bought my early 2014 C7 Z51 and picked it up from the dealer, it was in his showroom locked. The sales manager was upset he could NOT order for his inventory, GM was ONLY filling end customer orders. Mine had been there 3 days as 1st chance I had to pick it up in September 2013. He said now I have nothing to show customers re the new model. Didn't last long wit the C7, a few months. Frankly with only ~25,000 C8's sold for 2026 about like 2025, the days of demand exceeding BG's ability to supply are over! The Grand Sport should cause a blip in demand so expect 2027 MY to be more.

SIDEBAR
I think about the 1st time I tried to get a Corvette in 1974. My Uncle was GM at a large Chevy Dealer and he could NOT get one as BG had sold out for the year. They sold 37,502 Vettes in 1974, a very poor year for car performance. EPA had strict new emission regulations. It was before help from CATs. The small block Vette was only ~200 hp. To get 275 hp had to order the 454 cid!

I found a new Datsun 260Z at the dealer. Although they had upped the cid from 240, it had an air pump injecting air into the exhaust manifold. Used lean fuel/air mixers in the large Hitachi, variable Venturi carbs. It also had coolant flowing directly under the intake manifold to improve air/fuel mixing. HP was still down from the prior 240 and there were acceleration issues.

When the the Datsun Service Rep visited the the dealer he provided a "I didn't tell you" fix for the porpiosing accelerating when warm. I added long tube headers and low restriction exhaust, removing the air pump. I blocked the coolant going to the intake manifold. Installed richer fuel needles for the two large SU type carbs and advanced the timing. Picked up more than the hp lost from the 240!

Maybe he couldn't get that Corvette from BG in 1974 because they didn't start building them there until 1981!!!

Yep it was Saint Louis in 1974! They had been coming from some lean years:
  • 1970 = 17,316;
  • 1971 = 21,801;
  • 1972 = 27,004,
  • 1973 = 30,468.
