First Production ZR1s Released for Shipping!
The initial model year changeover quality hold for the ZR1 has been released and the first ZR1s rolled out on transports headed to dealerships on Thursday, March 15.
Keep in mind, this does not mean that every ZR1 that has been built so far has been released for transport because every newly built Corvette is placed under a minimum two day hold before being released to the shipping company. At that point, it may be a day, days, or even a week or so before a particular Corvette is loaded on a transport because of shipping logistics.
Exciting news for early ZR1 buyers for sure!

Imagine if the 2 week quality hold was literal. Meaning a qualified tech spent 8 hrs. a day for 10 days seeking out cosmetic imperfections and mechanical deficiencies! I suspect in actuality the hold consists of a 20 minute drive followed by a 30 minute visual observation both of which take 2 weeks to complete in the unionized workforce.

EXCITING NEWS!
The two week hold allows for any quality anomalies that may pop up in one or two cars, for example, to be analyzed to see if they are isolated or more widespread.

My ZR1 was built on Thursday, March 15 and I'm doing the museum delivery. Got an email from Shane at the museum on Friday that while there is normally a two week QC hold on corvettes, "with the ZR1 being a new model, GM tends to hold onto the first batches of cars for an extended QC hold". I know Rick Hendrick picked his up last week so I'm hoping that they can stay close to the two week hold. Would love to be driving it back by Easter!
