Pulled the drivers side door panel, in preparation of the speaker replacement. Unfortunately, my door panel wasn't in good shape...so I got to work, there were several cracks in the upper portion of the door, do I took some sandpaper, roughed up the abs on the inner portion, I had some fiber mesh tape from a drywall repair. I used that in combination with 2 coats of JB weld on each crack.
The end result was a much stronger door panel, of course I also added some sound deadening. now have to figure a way to get around the bose speaker mounts...still considering my options there, but I think I'm going to go with a sealed wood mount for the speakers, kind of angled up and back toward the driver.
I've no doubt the passenger side is in the same condition, though I am armed with a solution.
I also applied sound deadening inside of the door to the extent that I could reach without removing the window, or regulator.

Replaced my rear shocks today. Easy project. All the bolts came off fairly easy. Took me roughly an hour and a half.

Removed and cleaned the throttle body butterflies and bores. Also removed and cleaned the IAC valve and its bore. Took it for a nice little cruise on the highway... actually my first time on the highway with it since I bought it. Also did a quick spray paint on my rear exhaust pipes leading into the mufflers with high temp aluminum silver.

Struggle with the AC system
My '93 AC was converted over before I bought last year. Hasn't been right yet. HP side is way high and low side is low. Verified orifice wasn't blocked. I think I need a new drier.

in between the rain...
I bought a 84 glass targa top from a c7 owner for $40.00. Put it on but wasn't fitting right and wouldn't screw down. It looked like there was space in the front on both sides but turned out to be the glass itself Passenger window was going too high, simple solution, lower it. Rear screw would go in and tighten to a point then loosen. Looks like the screw wasn't lining up correctly. Loosened the piece on the top, pulled down on the top and started the screw in and tightened the piece back up. Installed my recently purchased dashmat to cover the cracks in the dashboard. Oh, and re-glued the carpet on the passenger side knee pad. The nice thing about having an older car is you spot a new project every time you look at it...hmmm, fuel emblem and wheel center caps could use replacing.

Agreed to spend more money
The main thing I did this weekend is agreed to spend more money, joy of owning a 26 year old car. I had bought a new water pump, thermostat and pads/rotors to put on my 1990 convertible and due to work commitments I went ahead and took it to a shop to get installed. First I agreed that while the water pump is out to replace all the water hoses, no sense putting on 1/4 century old hoses. While it was on the lift I asked the mechanic, Jamie my new dependent ;-), to look and see where the oil was dripping from. Turns out the timing chain cover seal is leaking, easier to do now while he is there then do it later so that plus the oil pan gasket is getting replaced. The mechanic said everything looks good underneath, no metal shaving in the oil indicating bearing issues. And since the car has 105K miles, I had him check the timing chain, that is showing wear so he agreed to replace that and the oil pump and only charge me the parts. So hopefully by the end of this week i will get my car back. I look at it this way, I am planning on driving to the Corvette Museum with my son this fall or next spring, the car should be a lot more reliable now. Previous had already replaced radiator, heater core, fuel injectors, alternator (have the receipts). A friend told me you don't actually buy a $5K car, you buy a $10K and put a $5k down payment... Looking forward to some summer cruises. Next project is new bushings and ball joints, think that will wait until the fall, don't want to freak out the wife too much.

I had the misfortune of installing new outer window seals in my 89, it was one of the hardest things I have ever done to any car. Wow
It was hard pulling the old ones out, even harder getting new ones to go in, they gave me a hard time seating. Never want to do that again. On the plus side I replaced my valve cover gaskets and painted the covers.

Changed the oil temp sensor, so much fun with headers in the way, but the temp reading is now fixed.

Been a bad couple of weeks here, so things are dragging. But hood is filled and finished, sealed, primed and sitting in the sun awaiting a good block sanding.
woot!

nothing earth shattering...
finally fixed the horn issue on my 85. my LH "C" note horn was dead. the single pin connector horns used on the very early C4's are getting harder and harder to come by in working condition. I have seen a couple youtube videos on repairing the things, and have tried it twice, without success. I had several dual pin horns from later model C4's, so I picked up a couple connector pigtails, and spliced in the two-wire connector into the single wire harness. single lead to the power and a separate ground - a butt splice on the power and a eyelet crimp on the ground. good to go, and horns louder than ever.

I cut the bumper all the way - so the air go straight to the K&N.
I haven't Dyno'ed the car, or driven' it yet, after the mod (i'm in the middle of the C5 brake upgrade now, and waiting for a new MAF burn off relay (code 36).
