Squealing sound
My 2000 C5 is making a squealing noise while running. Believe it's coming from alternator or pulley, sounds like tennis shoes on basketball court. Started a few weeks ago, went away quickly. Now it's full time, anyone else run into this issue or know how to fix it. Thanks in advance

Safety Car
Belt
Check your crack pulley. They start wobbling and they move causing belt squeal .common problem.

Burning Brakes
A few things to check. Remove the belt and start the car and rule out the AC belt. While the belt is off, spin the idler pulley, the tensioner pulley for any sound. Also spin the water pump by hand. If you still can't find it, I can't help ya.

can only be a few things....belt(s)
tensioner serpentine or A/C
water pump
balancer
if its the balancer it will be obvious, wobbling, rubber bushing protruding
A/C is easy to eliminate by pulling serpentine belt and starting car
tensioner is likely
idler pulleys are least likely
water pump, maybe if high mileage...
