Default LT5 CRATE MOTOR quandary:sell or replace

At the end of the month I will be getting an LT5 factory crate motor...The motor is the 93-95 405hp one. ,comes with clutch/flywheel and new ecu and motor, the quandary is to sell it or put it in my 90z..... Selling it on BAT or this venue is one option once I pick it up and bring it home.....opinions???.................... ...2nd option (maybe first one) is to put it my 90z...........my only concern would be the motor harness . I think the later 93-95 had a few different sensors.....has any put the later motor complete in an earlier 90?......

Just curious, how many miles on the motor now in your ‘90? Is anything seriously wrong with it?
As to your question, I am a firm believer in doing whatever makes you happy. It would not be my choice to switch them out but I am looking at cost vs return and ROI, as well as, the very small hp gains. I suspect the costs incurred would pay for a fairly impressive upgrade at Marc Haibeck’s for the original motor. These cars and their motors are far too emotional to judge the question simply mathematically. Good fortune, regardless of what you decide to do.

Congrats on the score!! I have a 94 crate motor in one of my 91s. Off the top of my head, you would want to use your ac compressor and harness to use the later motor in a 90.

If you’re buying it to flip, I’ve had 1 of mine posted on here for some time. Not pushing it too aggressively but they aren’t quick movers.

my z has 110k on it....everything under the plenum is new and every other parts, u-joints, bearings, bushings, zf doc transmission, clutch, etc, etc, etc....only thing that has miles is long block...as the picture shows obvious new paint...

My opinion on sell vs replace isn't worth much ...

However, I love the GS paint scheme on your Z

My two cents: Regardless of mileage, if the compression is good and the bottom end isn't giving you issues, don't mess with it.

It can be done 90 has a 93 405 in it. , You will need to change to the 90 plenum and use the 90 harness and ECM, the oil pan is different as it has a low oil sensor, 90 does not. you can plug it or just leave it.

Sounds like the voice of experience here!!!
Paint on the Z is beautiful!
With 110k miles it should complete the break in soon, then you may really wail on it for another 110k or liklely more...........
Sell the motor; buy another ZR-1!

A C4 ZR1 painted in GS colors is probably the coolest thing I've seen in a while!
