85.Corvette.523.C.I.D.ZR2 As previously noted, this is a true Big Block "Drop-in" install requiring zero modifications to any structural elements of the original chassis. As a result, hood modifications, in this case a rear opening hood scoop, as can be seen in other photo's herein, was fitted. Air filter to hood scoop clearance has been a trial and error fitment process as the final height of the new engine with the Edelbrock "Air Gap" intake is slightly taller than the low rise intake that was on the 468 CID of the original big block conversion, for which the scoop was installed many years ago. This Edelbrock "Pro-Flow" foam element, rotated 45 degrees is an effective temporary solution that seems to work well in a "Fair Weather" low milage seasonal application.
