Put a 7/16”x7/8”x 43” long thin steel rectangular tube on the back side of the deck lid flange to spread the load by clamping the fiberglass between the assemblies. Pop riveted a 1”x1”x1/16” x 43” long aluminum hinge to the 3/8” aluminum bar. The hinge sticks down approx. 1/8” below the 1” aluminum bar. The goal was to fold the wind screen under the deck lid when not in use. Forrest would have been smarter than to forget about the release handle, stupid is as stupid does.
