This article applies to the C6 Corvette (2005-2013).
Looking for an easy modification that a complete novice can do? Adding an exhaust enhancer plate to your C6 'Vette is just the thing you may be interested in. There are a myriad of different things that you can do to your Corvette to give it that unique style that is all you. Adding an exhaust enhancer plate is a simple job that you can do in a matter of minutes.
Material Needed
- Ratchet with extension and 13 mm socket
Step 1 – Locate the exhaust hanger
Crawl under the rear end of your car, only far enough to see in between those end pipes where the bracket and hanger is located. You will see the bolts that hold the hanger in place.
Step 2 – Loosen the hanger bolts
Use the 13 mm ratchet with extension to loosen the bolts that hold the hanger. Do NOT remove the bolts. They only need to be loosened in order to slide the plate into place.
Step 3 – Insert the enhancer plate
Slide in the enhancer plate at the horizontal slot, and then rotate or pivot the vertical slot into place. The slots on the plate will go in between the hanger bolt and the hanger. Tighten the bolts back down, very snug. This is a metal-on-metal connection, and if the bolt isn't tight enough, you may hear some vibration noise.
There are many different exhaust enhancer plates from which to choose. Many can be purchased from various vendors or members of CorvetteForum.com, other websites or even at the dealership. You are only limited to your imagination and preferred style. Once installed, the rear end of your car will look fantastic and give you the boost of confidence you need to tackle another project.
