C6 Corvette: How to Reset Your Power Window Indexing

Some automotive problems simply do not require the help of your local mechanic. Learn how to reset the power window indexing feature in a C6 Corvette by following these quick and easy instructions.

This article applies to the C6 Corvette (2005-2013).

If you were recently forced to jump the battery in your C6 Corvette, then you may have noticed the windows won't index. Do not head to a mechanic just yet! What you are experiencing is a common but fixable problem. In just a few easy steps, you can reset the power window indexing feature in your C6. You won't need to purchase additional tools, and the entire process takes just minutes to complete.

Material Needed

  • Owner's manual (optional)

Step 1 – Step into your vehicle and close the door

After a power reconnect, you must initialize the system to reset the power window indexing feature. This can only be performed from inside the car. Start on the driver side and make sure the passenger side door is closed.

Step 2 – Raise the window with the switch

Insert the car key and completely close the window using the switch on the door. Hold the switch for three seconds and release.

Step 3 – Pull the switch for a second time

Repeat the process in Step 2. Hold the switch for an additional three seconds and release.

Step 4 – Move to the passenger side

Be sure to close the door completely and repeat Steps 2 and 3 on the passenger side window. Remember to hold the switch for the three full seconds two consecutive times.

Step 5 – Check your windows

Raise and lower both the driver and passenger side windows to ensure the power window indexing feature is working correctly. Repeat the steps above if this feature has not been reset.
