C7 Corvette: How to Install an Aero Plate Holder

An Aero plate holder is a great way to dress up your C7 Corvette. The cost is minimal and the installation time is fast - just like your Corvette!

This article applies to the C7 Corvette (2014-current).

You don't have to be a mechanic to install an Aero plate holder. In fact, this DIY job is so easy that almost anyone could do it. All you need to do is purchase the Aero plate holder of your choice, attach the plastic fasteners to the front end of your C7 Corvette, and presto: you're done! You don't need an assistant, and the job requires just a couple rudimentary tools (all of which are easy to handle). Once the Aero plate holder is in place, you can be sure it will remain safe and secure on the front of your C7 until you swap it out for a new one years down the line.

Materials Needed

  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Aero plate holder

Step 1 – Remove the factory-installed frame on the front end

Fit a flathead screwdriver along the edge of the frame and carefully pry it out. The frame will unclip from the inside. Pull the frame away from the vehicle, if it has not already fallen into your hands.

Step 2 – Remove the two plastic screws on the frame

Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove each screw on the top right and left corners of the frame. Continue until both screws release and the plate holder loosens. The screws will not come all the way out.

Step 3 – Remove the plastic holder by hand

Grab the plastic holder before it drops to the ground to avoid surface scratches.

Step 4 – Attach the new Aero plate holder

Line the Aero plate holder so it is flush with the grill and snap it into place. Tighten the two plastic screws using the Phillips screwdriver.

Pro Tip

The screws will not tighten to the point where there is tension. You will know they are in place when you feel that they are snug against the front end.

Step 5 – Attach the license plate

Using the Phillips screwdriver, screw on the license plate by tightening each of the four screws.
