Sixty years on the road, the Chevrolet Corvette is a remarkable sports car with impressive performance specs across the various model years. None more impressive, though, is the C7 Corvette, the newest generation of the Corvette family to kickoff in 2014. The C7 generation is America's super car, equipped with patented 'smart materials' designed to deliver precision and high-end performance on the street and track. The interior features exquisite leather upholstery and carbon-fiber, micro-suede and aluminum appointments for a luxurious look and feel. Read on to learn more about the C7 Corvette.

Component Breakdown

Shape Memory Wire

The C7 is manufactured with a 'smart material' wire that adjusts cabin pressure and temperature based on an electrical current that automatically manipulates the lever that controls the vent. The vent opens to reduce cabin pressure and closes to maintain it for the most comfortable ride.

Small-block V-8 Engine

The C7 is capable of reaching nearly 30 miles per gallon when driven in Eco mode, with the help of cylinder deactivation ("Active Fuel Management") which allows the car to run on 4 cylinders in low speed acceleration and cruising. The C7 benefits from a thoroughly reworked and well-designed small block V-8 cylinder engine that relies on an advanced combustion process, aided with variable valve timing and direct fuel injection to optimize performance.

Precision Tires with Asymmetrical Sidewalls

The C7 features tires with asymmetrical sidewalls to increase handling when accelerating to top speeds or hard cornering, offering a smoother, bolder experience on the street or track. Durable construction and increased thickness (3 mm) complements the tire's improved tread components, which feature 150 different constituents.

Scheduled Maintenance

Inspect wear items, such as brakes, rotors and tires, according to the manufacturer's suggested service schedule. Check the oil life remaining on the DIC to determine when new engine oil is needed.

Common Issues

Rattling sound in the torque tube

Replace as the torque tube is most likely bent or damaged.

Creaking sound emanating from dash pads

Generally speaking, the C7 offers a comfortable ride with a solid feel. If a creaking sound is present when driving over uneven ground, it is not likely that you will need to replace the vehicle's existing dash pads.

Problems with navigation system

Reset the navigation system by hand, using the owner's manual. If the problem persists, have the dealer troubleshoot the system's configuration.
