1. Headlights activate automatically with wipers

Rain has a way of reducing visibility, even if it's the middle of the day. With that, the C7 Corvette will assume a use for headlights when the wipers are activated. With helpful details like these, the Corvette's designers prove themselves to be a real friend to the customers driving their vehicles.

2. Reminders to turn off your turn signals

The C7 Corvette includes a little feature that reminds you to turn off your turn signals after 45 seconds. This can be helpful if you try to change lanes on a highway and forget to turn it off if you change your mind. Now if only someone designs a feature that reminds more people to use their turn signals in the first place!

3. Pause Live Radio feature

The C7 Stingray's stereo includes a hard drive and buffer that constantly records radio while you listen to it. With it, you can actually rewind your radio, replay songs or catch part of an interview you missed. The feature offers 25 minutes of playback, which is more than enough to replay your favorite song when it airs.

4. Retractable MyLink screen

MyLink is Chevrolet's in-house dashboard interface. While many modern cars have something of the sort, the C7's MyLink screen actually retracts with a hidden storage area behind it. Having an easily accessed storage area without having to crank one's neck is sure to be a godsend for many drivers. This is a really neat feature, and we haven't seen anything quite like it in other cars.

5. Capless fuelling

Dealing with a fuel cap is a minor pet peeve for virtually every driver. Corvette's recent generation sought to solve that issue with a capless fueling system, where the cap is built into the fuel door.  It's surprising something of this sort isn't more common in higher-end vehicles.

6. Corvette headlight emblems

This little detail has been verified on the C7 Stingray, although we wouldn't be surprised if it can be found on other models. The Corvette headlights have small Corvette logos etched into them. There's little reason for the emblems to be there, at least from a practical standpoint, but it's cool to discover them by chance.

7. Rear hatch glass vent

When a Corvette is driving, the rear hatch normally picks up air, much like a sail. This would normally make the hatch impossible to close while the car is in motion. To accommodate for this, Corvette designers included a rear hatch glass vent to suck up the air. Details like this go to show that the guys at Corvette thought of virtually every possibility and twist in their design.

8. Power opening doors

Beginning with the C6 generation of Corvettes, the doors include a power-open button. While power windows are fairly commonplace in modern car brands, a power door is still a fairly rare sight. These new buttons have replaced regular handles, and the feature has continued on with the C7 generation. If you're a new Corvette owner and are wondering why you can't find the regular handle-- well, now you know!

9. Racing mascot under the ZR1 hood

Corvette Racing has its own mascot. Jake will be a familiar sight for Corvette fanatics. Owners and operators of the ZR1 should be used to having him as a regular passenger, even if they're not aware of it. Corvette's architect Tom Peters wanted a break from the standard flag logo. Despite the high power of the Corvette, it is refreshing to know the designers knew not to take themselves too seriously.

10. Secret hot dogs, apple pies, and baseball bats

Here's a true example of an Easter egg if ever there was one, found in convertible Corvettes produced between 1989-96. Underneath the carpet flooring behind the passenger's seat, there's a small engraving of an apple pie, baseball, and hot dog. Besides drawing obvious associations with the white picket American dream, there was actually a precedent for this particular egg: Chevrolet's slogan at the time was "Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet." Most Corvette owners who have one from the early 90s will have never been aware they were driving around with the most American set of hieroglyphics in history.
