Do you know these secrets?

There are many amazing features immediately noticeable in your Corvette, but have you ever wondered about the not-so-obvious possibilities just waiting to be discovered? Here are a variety of secrets about the C4, C5, C6 and C7 Corvette.

1. C6 Glove Box Start

Another way to start the C6 is by placing the key fob in the hidden receptacle within the glove box, on the left-hand side.

2. C5 Oil Life Reset

On the C5, you can actually reset the car’s oil life by pumping the gas pedal three times. The engine must not be running while doing this.

3. C7 Radio Controls

On the C7 Stingray, you can pause and rewind radio stations.

4. Shake to Unlock

The following applies to all models that have the passive entry feature. If you happen to accidentally lock your keys in the car, simply wait a few minutes and then use your arms/body to shake the car. This will unlock the car!

5. C6 Brake Ducts

The C6 has front and rear brake cooling ducts that bring air from high pressure areas to low pressure areas where the brakes are.

6. Let There Be Light

With the engine off, opening the glove box automatically turns on interior lighting in the C5.

7. C4 Cinch Button

On the C4 seat belts there is a cinch button, which, when pushed, will tighten the belt around the lap to hold you in place when driving hard.

8. C7 'Smart Material'

The C7 features a heat-activated alloy wire that uses a vent to close the trunk lid more easily. This wire replaced the heavy motorized part.

9. C4 Handle Lights

In the C4 (model years ‘84-’89), there are lights above the door panel handles that turn on when you press in on the forward edge.

10. C5 Aux Power

Once you shut off the engine of a C5, you have 20 minutes of auxiliary power remaining.

11. Hidden Key Hatch

If the battery is dead on the C6/C7, there is a hidden key in the key fob that can be used to access the rear hatch via a keyhole.

12. C4 Hidden Armrest Pockets

In ‘94-’96 C4 models, the armrest on the door panel flips open to reveal a hidden map pocket.

13. C7 Hidden Stingray

Open the rear hatch on the C7 Stingray and move to the front of the car. Looking back towards the hatch, you’ll see that it looks like a stingray!
