Checking the Boxes

In the world of collectible Corvettes, there are so many boxes to check that sometimes it's hard to keep count. Colors, accessory options, drivetrain options, stickers, markings, and so on... Are the miles original? How many owners has it had? Does it sport the correct parts? It's a mind-numbing process, no doubt. But this killer yellow C3 we found on eBay seems to check most of those ever-important boxes with ease.

Big Motor, Small Numbers

For starters, it's got a big block. More specifically, it is equipped with the LS5 454/390HP engine option. Only 4,473 'Vettes were sold with this engine in 1970, which was a fairly low production year with only 17,316 built. And in this case, the seller claims that the car only has 53,325 miles on the clock.

Fully Documented

The seller also notes that this is a matching numbers car. It still retains its original order sheet/tank sticker, Protect-o-Plate and warranty booklet, the owner's manual, a copy of the original dealer invoice, and a copy of the original title.

Fully Loaded

The options list is fairly long on this C3, too. It includes power steering, disc brakes, air conditioning, power windows, tilt wheel, AM/FM stereo, white wall tires, as well as a black instrument cluster and a black top.

Mostly Intact

Apparently, some panels have been repainted, as the seller notes that the car is "sporting most of its original paint." The interior wears the original black leather and appears to be in very nice condition, especially for a convertible.

Drop Top

For 1970, Chevy produced a total of 6,648 convertible Corvettes and 10,668 coupes. And this Daytona Yellow car is certainly one of the nicest of the bunch still in existence.

Heavy Rat

Interestingly enough, many folks opted for the smaller LT1 small block in 1970. But you can't blame them, because it produced nearly as much power (370 hp) and weighed considerably less than the new "rat."

Checkered Past

This Corvette was also originally sold at Bill Allen Chevrolet in Kansas City, a dealer famous for selling high-performance cars, including many of the Dick Harrell Super Cars.

Robust Interest

Thus, the car's selling price of $42,900 seems pretty fair. It certainly isn't the rarest or most coveted Corvette on the planet, but it's a beautiful survivor that deserves the robust collector interest it has attracted.
