2022 Corvette C8.R Championship Edition Is a Real Looker
One of just 1,000 produced, the seller of this special C8 raked in a healthy profit at auction.
Impressive Results
GM revealed the Corvette C8.R Championship Edition last summer as a limited-edition model designed to pay tribute to the brand's 2020 IMSA WeatherTech Series championship. Just 1,000 were produced in total, and recently, number 515 of that small lot landed on the auction site Cars & Bids, raking in an impressive profit for the seller after it hammered for a whopping $130k.

Basically New
This special C8 is also equipped with GM's adjustable front-axle lift system with a memory function, an exposed carbon-fiber body kit, and paint protection film across the entire body, which was applied by the seller. Since this car has a mere 40 miles on the clock, it's quite literally brand new, too.

Familiar Powerplant
As is the case with all Stingray-based C8 Corvettes, this C8.R Championship Edition is equipped with GM's 6.2-liter LT2 V8. With the Z51 package and its performance exhaust system, it produces 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Tidy Profit
Sporting a cool $23,040 in options, this particular C8.R Championship Edition Corvette touted an original MSRP of $104,185 but sold for a whopping $130k at auction, which represents a tidy profit of $25,815 for the seller. Whether or not it continues to rise in value remains to be seen, but with very few examples produced, it wouldn't be surprising if it did.
