1. The National Corvette Museum

Chevy aficionados may know Bowling Green already as the homeplace of the 'Vette assembly plants. It makes sense that America's sports car would have an official home in the American heartland. The National Corvette Museum is a place of pilgrimage for anyone sufficiently interested in the history of the Corvette. With over 80 Corvettes on display at any given time, the museum will leave anyone more of an expert. In addition to the vintage Corvettes you'd expect from a museum, there are also one-of-a-kind concept cars that never made it past the experimental stage. If you love Corvettes and are willing to travel, the National Corvette Museum is an absolute must.

If you're interested in checking out the museum, visit the NCM's official site.

2. Friends and fellow enthusiasts

It seems like every suburban neighborhood has got at least one vintage Corvette tucked away in an owner's home garage. Chances are, if you're a fan of classic cars, you may already know someone with a sharp 'Vette stowed away. Organic social networking with others who share your automotive interests can pay off big time when it comes to getting your Corvette fix. While it may seem like a no-brainer to include friends and family in your search, you may be surprised at the finds people have got locked away. Many vintage owners tend not to bring their cars out except for meet-ups and other special occasions. Who knows-- with the right amount of charm, maybe you can convince a friend to let your drive theirs.

3. Vintage car meetups

It is kind of amazing that the Corvette brand still manages to bring people together after such a long spanning history. Since many of the vintage models tend to be stored for safekeeping, organized enthusiast meetups offer owners and fans alike the chance to enjoy these old cars. There are events of this sort in virtually every city; even if the meetup is for vintage cars in general, it's likely that the Corvette will be present. Ads for these meetups are typically found in the newspaper or sites such as Craigslist. The fast food chain A&W is known to sponsor classic car meetups; if there's one in your neighborhood you might check for ad postings related to the next get-together.

4. Corvette clubs

There has always been a certain sense of camaraderie between Corvette owners. There's a tight-knit community that you just don't really see with other cars. Corvette clubs are a ground zero outlet for sharing the love of the almighty 'Vette. Usually focusing on the vintage end of Corvette's history, the clubs can provide easy access to the cars, not to mention the kinship of like minded people. While every club is different, many of them don't require ownership of a Corvette yourself to join, just the shared enthusiasm.

Vintage Corvettes of Southern California is one such club if you're interested in seeing the kind of atmosphere and personality theses clubs tend to exude.

5. Vintage Corvette Racing events

Vintage Corvette Racing is an organization with the noble intent of bringing vintage Corvettes out to the racetrack. This is the perfect spectator experience if you're a fan of these cars, and unlike your typical meetups, the events offer an opportunity to see the 'Vette boasts the muscle they're known for. Thanks to the immense popularity of the Corvette brand, it's not hard to find one of these events. Major speedways, such as Daytona, are known to sponsor them. Look online to see if there's an event coming soon; depending on where you live it may require some travel on your part, but for diehard fans of this classic icon, there's nothing else quite like it.
