6 Secret Shots of the Bernie Z06
Meant to be more of an art piece than anything, this Z06 is certainly one-of-a-kind. Here are six shots taken by the artist himself.
1. Inspired by Art Cars
When CorvetteForum member phantasms, aka Gene, decided to embark on making the Bernie Sanders Z06, he meant it to be an art project that expressed his enthusiasm for the then-potential Presidential candidate. His trip to the Concorso d’Eleganza in Italy, an art car show displaying cars designed by Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Roy Lichtenstein and the like, inspired him to make his first art car.

3. Patriotic Images
In the studio at Columbia, Gene created the various red, white, and blue stars and stripes images, which he screened onto similarly-colored automotive vinyl. The vinyl pieces were then covered in clear acrylic to protect from the elements when eventually applied.

6. A Glimpse at the Process
The initial process of adhering the 300 stickers onto the car's exterior took 10 hours over a period of two days to complete. This photo is just a glimpse into the amount of effort it took to cover the surface before Gene began to apply automotive vinyl with silkscreen images. Painting the final silkscreen images and applying them to the Z06 took an additional 30 hours.
