Quick Flip

It's no secret that the 2020 Corvette has been a hot commodity, selling with markups at dealerships and premium prices on the used car market. Couple that with the fact that GM recently admitted that it can't fill all 2020 C8 orders, and you've got the perfect recipe for a quick flip for those that can get their hands on one. And that's apparently exactly what went down with this C8 that recently crossed the block at Mecum's Indianapolis sale.

Supply and Demand

It may seem a little silly, but the fact is, there aren't a ton of 2020 Corvettes out there in the world - just a couple thousand, in fact. And that's obviously not enough to satisfy the hefty demand surrounding the hot new model. So the seller was clearly just taking advantage of that skewed supply to demand ratio.

Deal Breaker

This particular 2LT has just 11 miles on the clock, so it's quite clear that it was bought to flip. It's finished in Blade Silver Metallic with an Adrenaline Red interior, which is an attractive combination, without a doubt. The big kicker, however, is the fact that it isn't equipped with the Z51 package, which is pretty much a deal-breaker for us.

Many Amenities

Regardless, there are some nice amenities here for those that don't care about all-out performance. They include things like the Bose performance 14-speaker audio system, heads-up display, Carbon Flash badge package, HD front curb-view camera, and a body-color roof panel.

Mechanically Speaking

The car is fitted with GM's staggered 19- and 20-inch silver-painted aluminum wheels, and of course, the new 6.2-liter LT2 V8 that produces 490 horsepower in this spec. It's paired to the automaker's quick-shifting dual-clutch transmission, but in this case, there's no rear spoiler behind it.

Tidy Profit

When the hammer fell on this C8, it sold for a whopping $106,700, which is obviously a lot for a non-Z51 2LT with just a few options. We don't know exactly what the original MSRP of the car was, but the 2LT starts out at just over $67k. Clearly, the seller came away with a tidy profit here.

Surefire Collectible?

But that's really no surprise given the extreme interest surrounding the 2020 model Corvette. Eventually, GM will build enough cars to satisfy demand, and the market will return to normal. But it's worth wondering if the 2020 will always be a collectible item of sorts, thanks to its inevitably low production number.
