Building The Polish AWD Boosted C3 Racecar

I love Poland for three reasons: they have incredibly beautiful women, they gave us Robert Kubica and someone over there built this Corvette. Here’s the inside scoop.

What The Forced induction

Apparently, this car is powered by a 388 cubic inch stroked LT1 that gets fed by a huge turbocharger. The only thing better than a V8 is a V8 with boost which makes the build instantaneously bad ass. If you’re wondering how much horsepower it makes the figures are potent: over 1,6000 horses!

All wheel drive

Massive power pairs with all wheel drive rather well and the ability to have the front tires clawing for traction means this car rockets off the line. Performance of all wheel drive turbo V8s are staggering and this car is no exception. It smokes a 1,500 horsepower EVO in one of Poland’s big races.

Built by VTG

VTG is a tuning shop based out of Poland that lays claim to the fastest quarter mile times in the country. From 500 horsepower Honda Civics to 1,200 horsepower GMC Typhoons the company knows what they are doing. Their oversight of this build means it got some serious TLC that resulted in proper engineering. These guys are mental.

The ultimate sleeper…not.

So, in Poland, they race on the streets. This car will retain a stock looking body which makes it one hell of a sleeper until you realize the massive turbo stick straight out from the hood. It’s a single turbo from Turbonetics that looks to be over 100mm. Massive Hoosier slicks let it hook up and a parachute slows everything down at the end of the quarter mile.

Acceleration

A video of this monster was posted this year showing a 0-120mph time of 4.4 seconds. To understand how quickly this really is, consider the Veyron Super Sport does 0-120mph in 6.7 seconds. It gets, even more, mind bending when you consider this AWD Corvette will go from a stand still to 186mph in just 8.3 seconds!!!

Global Appeal

One thing I take away from this build is how much of a global presence GM engines have world wide. When someone wants to build something with 1,000 horsepower or more it is very common to see Chevy V8s used as opposed to a host of other engines on the market. The LT and LS platforms really have an appeal all over the world.
