Daily Slideshow: Corvettes at the 2018 Chattanooga Coker Tire Cruise-In
From C1 to C7 and everything in between, the Coker Tire Cruise-In was the place to see all your favorite Corvettes.
Welcome to the Cruise
If you happen to be hanging around Chattanooga, Tennessee, I'd advise you drop by Coker Tire. For years, they've put on a car show and cruise-in in conjunction with their neighbor Honest Charley Speed Shop. The one day Coker Cruise-In event draws in over 2,000 vehicles and tons of spectators. The fellas at Coker don't discriminate and welcome all brand of vehicles as long as they have some form of collectibility and enthusiast attraction. Follow along to see which belles showed up to the proverbial ball.
His & Hers
Do you ever find yourself arguing with the wife about whose turn it is to drive the cherry C1 in the garage? Well, it's time to settle that argument. A second C1 in the garage is a lot cheaper (and less painful) than a divorce. Whether you choose a timeless blue or a contrasting red and white C1, it's all gravy.
Better From the Rear
Fear not convertible lovers, this tasty red C1 showed up and reminded everyone what class looks like. While the modern Corvettes corner the market on accessible performance, the classics are much more fun for a cruise event like Coker's.
Formal Elegance
This black C1 might be my all-time favorite color combination. The blend of black, white, and silver are as timeless as a well-tailored tuxedo. In fact, maybe GQ should consider this C1 for their next cover when they decide to address wedding attire. Mr. Bond may be looking to replace his DB5.
As Fresh as the Driven Snow
If black paint is too high maintenance, may I suggest white? Although white can be considered a little bland, the classic swooping lines of the C1 nullify any negative comments from passersby. Leaning towards the incognito side also has its rewards. You'll slide past the watchful eyes of local law enforcement and hopefully not draw the attention of skilled car thieves.
Hiding in Plain Sight
The number of entrants in the Coker Cruise-In is so extensive, cars park in every usable space between the Coker and Honest Charley's parking lots. This minty C2 convertible was tucked away in the lot but definitely caught our attention.
Fiery C2
As if the red paint wasn't hot enough, it has side pipes! With the roof absent, you'll hear the side pipes and the classic GM V8 at full song all around town. As the owner, you're making the world a better and happier place by driving your C2.
BEST.LICENSE.PLATE.EVER.
I mean c'mon. How can you not tip your hat to the owner of a C3 with a license plate reading SUGIDAD? Look below the personalized plate and you'll notice a custom quad-tipped exhaust and some meaty rear tires. No doubt Coker had something to do with the wheel and tire setup.
Sinister
Warning: This is not your grandfather's Corvette. And if it is, your grandfather is a badass. This pro-street styled C4 was sure to turn heads with its massive hood scoop and drag racing prowess.
Performance Bargain of the Century
In my humble opinion, the C5 Z06 is one of the best (and safest) performance buys you can make today. What the C5 inherently lacks in refinement, it more than makes up for in handling, braking, and of course horsepower. Replacement parts and aftermarket upgrades are aplenty and maintenance costs are more than livable for a vehicle of this level.
Cleanup on Aisle 5
This particular 'Vette was a little over-excited and may have wet itself. No worries, accidents happen from time to time.
Yellow Jacket Ready to Attack
How do you make a yellow Corvette cool? Add a matte black stripe down the long fiberglass hood. Your street cred is also upped by having a 7-liter LS7 tucked underhood and some massive Brembo brakes up front. This C6 Z06 is all go whether it's on the street, strip, or the track.
The Next Generation
At long last, we've reached the current generation C7 Corvette. Once again, we find the Z06 model being the most attractive as both a casual observer and potential buyer. The C7 Z06 brings the noise with 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. With that much power, smoky burnouts are sure to ensue. Hopefully, the owner has an "in" with the fine folks at Coker.
Drop Top for the Ride Home
With summer here in full force, this blue C7 convertible is the way to go, especially now that the Z06 can be had with an 8-speed automatic.
