Beech Bend Raceway

It’s been about a month and a half since Holley LS Fest East concluded and we are still buzzing over this memorable event that made its 9th straight year at Beech Bend Raceway in Warren County, Kentucky, just a hop, skip, and a speedbump away from Bowling Green. Even the threat of rain couldn't keep the hardcore LS crazies away from three days of automotive bliss. On Friday alone, a capacity crowd filled both sides of the drag strip and as well as the grandstands surround the autocross and driving arena. The crowds kept coming throughout the weekend, to watch a number of other events including a smoke-filled burnout content.

Scoggin Dickey Drag Racing

If drag racing is your jam, you can sit in the covered stands at Beech Bend and watch nonstop Scoggin Dickey Drag Racing action each day. This is where some of the quickest and fastest cars in the country can be found – side-by-side competition on 1320 feet of asphalt. And if you prefer to participate, you can experience the ground pounding action from the popular drag radial classes all the way to the real street, where we find the fastest LS or current generation LT powered power adder car on a 10.5″ wide slick or DOT 275 tire. This is definitely your opportunity to unleash your LS or current generation LT powered beast on one of the Midwest’s most famous tracks.

Autocross

The QA1 autocross course put competitors’ handling to the test! The autocross is a low-speed competition designed to highlight the handling, acceleration, and braking of your ride. The wide sweepers, tight hairpins, chicanes, and slalom sections of the course promises an adrenaline rush from start to finish. The autocross package includes two autocross events: one set up inside of Beech Bend’s 3/8 mile oval track and a second autocross at the NCM Motorsports Park skidpad. You’re guaranteed to enjoy a lot of track time over the course of this three-day event.

Baer Super Chevy 3S Challenge

The 3S Challenge is an LS Fest fan favorite. The “3S” stands for Speed, Stop, and Steering, and participants had better be proficient at all three if they hope to be competitive in this event segment. The is a side-by-side low speed down and back course layout that will feature a 180-degree turnaround, slalom, and a stop box.  Each “run” consists of the total of left side course time added to right side course time, plus any accumulated penalties. The winner is determined by the fastest combined left side and right side run.  All runs must be clean – any contact with course markers, cones or stop box cones results in a DNF.

Hoonigan Burnout Challenge

Although there are plenty of smoking tires throughout the three-day event, Saturday night’s Burn Out challenge offered more smoke than you ever asked for and more. This “Aussie” style burnout contest gave drivers the opportunity to smoke freely in public and spectators to take in their second-hand smoke. This year's Burnout Challenge Winner was the 1956 Chevy Wagon shown above.

Countryside Cruise

The relaxed nature of the countryside cruise offers a welcome break from the competition on the track and gives all of the competitors an opportunity to socialize and take in the beautiful winding back roads of Kentucky. The cruise also allows competitors to include the entire family in the event and show off the highway manners of their ride. A digital scavenger hunt is always a favorite part of the countryside cruise for many participants.
