Legendary Moniker

It's no surprise that Sting Ray/Stingray is one of the more legendary monikers associated with the Corvette. Since nearly the beginning, it has symbolized performance and beauty, dating back to the original Corvette Stingray Racer Concept car designed in 1959 by Pete Brock, Bill Mitchell, and Larry Shinoda

New Revision

Back in 2009, Chevrolet marked the 50th anniversary of that groundbreaking concept by creating the Corvette Stingray Concept and revealing it at the Chicago Auto Show. And now, a designer named Dejan Hristov has drawn up his own version to celebrate the car's 60th anniversary.

Promotional Tie-In

The 50th anniversary car sadly was little more than a promotional tie-in with the Transformers movie franchise at the time. But it did mesh some classic and modern Corvette design cues together in a design that never spawned any type of production version.

Three Is Better Than One

Hristov, on the other hand, took that basic design and elevated it to an entirely new level. He drew up not one, but three different versions of the concept as well - a coupe, convertible, and racer, like the original.

Traditional Lines

Interestingly, many of the design cues present in all three concepts are similar to the forthcoming C8. But the traditional Corvette lines and proportions are there, without a doubt.

Futuristic Rides

That includes a long hood, short trunk, and flowing lines. All of which makes these concepts immediately recognizable as Corvettes, even though they look entirely futuristic as well.

More Flair

Out of the three, the coupe looks like the most reasonably normal design. But the other two have, shall we say, a little extra flair to them.

Future Vision

The convertible has a steeply sloped windshield and very unique shaped side windows. Which is a stark contrast to the coupe, which lacks a rear window. But in the future, we'll probably have a camera to take care of rear visibility for us, anyway.

Radical Departure

The racer, of course, is the most radical of the bunch. There's no windshield, just a big open cabin like the original Stingray Racer Concept.

Layout Issues

All three of these designs are incredibly cool, in our book. But much like the original racer concept, we doubt any of them will ever see the light of day. Especially now that the Corvette is going mid-engine after all these years!
