Incredible Car, Incredible Price

Barrett-Jackson is known for offering up a number of fine Corvette restomods with each and every passing sale, and that was certainly the case at the auction house's first-ever Houston event. There, this amazing 1962 Corvette attracted considerable interest and sparked a bidding war that ended with the car selling for an incredible $330,000.

Body Mods

Nicknamed "Elegance," this fine C1 lives up to that moniker thanks to a masterfully crafted exterior and loads of subtle details. For starters, both bumpers were removed, while solid grille rings and matching side grilles were added. Custom billet inserts were fitted to the coves, while the rear quarters were widened by two inches, the top body line was raised by one inch, and the whole thing was lengthened by one inch.

Polished to Perfection

The gorgeous Champagne Mist exterior hue extends to the engine bay, where you'll find a finely detailed LS7 V8 that cranks out 505 horsepower. Mated to a 4L65E automatic transmission, everything mechanical is polished to absolute perfection, including the stainless steel exhaust system.

Super Sanitary

Along with Street and Performance polished accessories, the smooth engine bay also contains a polished aluminum radiator and stainless air conditioning lines for a super sanitary look. That theme continues underneath, where you'll find a fully polished C4 suspension mounted on a custom-molded chassis.

OEM Look

The interior consists of custom-made leather finishes with one-off seats, a center console, and trunk area, with matching billet pieces that mirror what's fitted to the exterior. All of the wiring throughout the car has been hidden, anything unsightly was molded in or stashed out of sight, and the modifications are so well done that the car looks like it could have rolled off the assembly line this way.

Devil's In the Details

Virtually every body line present on this C1 has been touched and modified, which includes the wheel openings, which were altered slightly to make room for a larger set of wheels and tires. The inner fenders were also made from scratch and molded to the body, while every single nut and bolt throughout the car was upgraded to polished stainless steel.

Award Winner

Unsurprisingly, the fruits of these efforts is a Corvette restomod that's done nothing but rack up awards since it was finished, including a Gold award at the Corvette Nationals in Chicago, a Top Ten Builder Choice in Del Mar, California, and a Top Ten Builder Choice in Loveland, Colorado, along with a SEMA appearance and spots in at least one magazine, not to mention that sky-high selling price.
