1. Use auto detailing clay to remove rust stains

You have probably heard of auto clay before. It's the standard cleaning tool used by homeowners and pro garages alike. It's a surprisingly helpful solution for dreaded rust stains. As luck would have it, it's also remarkably simple to use: Simply take a bar of the clay and scrub the area until the rust stain has been worked away. Detailing clay is very helpful in restoring a Corvette's appearance. It's also widely available at auto shops and department stores.

2. Simple cleaning solutions work on most water stains

White vinegar and water spray, combined with the appropriate dose of elbow grease, should help rub out any water stains that have amassed on your Corvette's exterior. A simple concoction like this is safely used without needing to worry about it damaging the car's clearcoat. However, if the stain has traveled below the clear coat and into the base paint, this becomes more of a problem. Scrubbing with a microfiber cloth helps to improve the scrub and significantly reduce drying time.

3. Kerosene or WD-40 can remove exhaust stains

Exhaust ejects a lot of dirty material into the air, and it's not uncommon for a car's backside to get stained by the constant smoke. A tell-tale sign of a car in need of a good cleaning is the presence of significant exhaust staining. If you've found the clay bar doesn't do enough to remove the stain, applying kerosene or spraying WD-40. Rubbing it into the affected area can go good lengths toward clearing up the problem. When working with these materials, it obviously helps to err on the side of caution and play it extra safe. Kerosene is flammable, and working near an open exhaust can be dangerous if the engine's left on for whatever reason.

4. You can clean the leather upholstery with soap and water

Although it does come as a surprise given the Corvette interior's luxury status, the owner manual for the Corvette suggests a simple concoction of soap and water for cleaning the upholstered seats. This is usually sufficient for clearing up minor messes and spills. However, you wouldn't be wrong if you wanted something a bit stronger to protect your seats with. There are leather sprays and treatments available that can strengthen the leather and protect it from staining.

5. Wash your Corvette regularly and give it an annual waxing

Keeping your car regularly maintained and washed is the best possible way to avoid stains that are harder to get out. Going to a professional car wash can be a pretty fun experience, leaving your car with a re-invigorated sheen. Unwanted buildups of muck can have an acidic effect on your Corvette's paint. Waxing the Corvette annually is also a great idea for those who want their road warrior looking its best year-round. After all, a car as classy as a Corvette, whether it's modern or vintage, deserves some regular love and care.
