Modern Rubber on the Classic C3

1. Big and Wide

Anyone who's seen or driven the C3 Corvette knows it's a classic even if it's not quite a classic. Produced from 1968-72, this small block V8 boasted 300hp until 1970 when a new 427 big-block was introduced, bumping the aptly-named Sting Ray's hp to 450. Out of the factory, these engines sat on a quadruplet of 15-inch wheels.

This C3 Corvette has 18"x10" wheels up front and 18"x12" wheels in back. This generation Corvette may be classic, but it has an extremely futuristic style. The long hood, the sleek curves, and the overall shape that we've not seen anything like since then can be truly complimented with some modern wheels.

2. A Touch of Modern

Corvette forum member Gordonm has found the perfect mixture of modern and classic. These wheels are 18"x10" in the rear, and they feature a style that is classic, with a touch of modern. The body style of the C3 Corvette can more than accommodate the bigger wheels. In fact, it seems as if this model was meant for it.

3. Polished Aluminum

These TTII polished aluminum wheels give the C3 Corvette the sparkle it deserves. Sitting in front are bigger than stock 17" wheels, but it gets better; the rear end boasts 18"x10" wheels that make this classic Corvette bold enough without losing any of its classic characteristics. 4. Z06 Wheels

If you were ever wondering if modern wheels work well with the C3 generation Corvette, here is another example that shows that they do. Forum member BadBaran installed these C6 Zo6 Corvette wheels on his C3 Corvette, and they give the Corvette a modern pop we don't normally see on a 36-year old car.

5. Shiny

To go with the chrome all around this C3 Corvette, forum member XXLHorn put these 18-inch Boyd Coddington Crown Jewels chrome wheels, and wrapped around them is a set of Kumho Ecsta MX Street Radials. The big, shiny wheels are exactly what this bright yellow C3 needed.

6. Masterpiece

As if the color of this C3 Corvette isn't beautiful enough, forum member Dmeesq showed his fine taste when he equipped his 1977 C3 Corvette with these modern chrome wheels. There isn't much chrome on this Corvette, but the wheels go perfectly well with the side exhausts and the chrome on the trunk, creating nothing short of a masterpiece.

7. Modern Black

Not everything beautiful comes in chrome, black wheels on a C3 is a beautiful sight. These wheels are Boss 338 18"x8" wheels, and they are sitting inside Nitto 555 tires. The black spokes are surrounded by a chrome rim, which contrasts perfectly well with the entire car. If you're a fan of black wheels, these may change the way you look at your C3 Corvette.
