No Mid Packer

Václav Král is a Czech designer who is behind this build as well as the bodywork. It’s a stunning design that looks way beyond what was being done by exotic car companies at the time. The headlights and seats may look a bit dated, but the rest of the car actually holds up really well after 25 years.

Specifications

Based on a C4 Corvette the Mysterro, as it’s called, offers some serious performance. Other than having a mid-engine layout, the car weighs just under 3,000lbs with 300 horsepower. It's no ZR1, but in 1993, this was a stout package for a road car.

Ahead of its Time

It has taken Chevrolet over a quarter of a century to finally make the decision to implement a mid-engine layout in a Corvette. So one might say that the Mysterro was way ahead of the curve. It utilized a custom-made 5-speed transaxle to get the power to the rear. It features a carbon fiber dashboard and Recaro bucket seats. Few people were building Corvettes to this level in the early 90s.

For Sale

At $160,000 this car is a serious bargain. You get a mid-engine sports car with great weight distribution, a modest curb weight and reasonable power that could be upgraded for a fraction of what other iconic vintage sports cars sell for. It might not be as fast as a newer Vette, but it’s ultra cool and commands attention.

Inside Out

In an interview with Radio.cz, Král said his father's motto was “to design from the ‘inside’ out.” This philosophy has never been more present than in the C4 Corvette-based Mysterro. It is a true example of beauty meeting precision, engineering complimenting imagination, and dreams becoming reality. Hope you enjoyed reading.
