To The Open Road!

There are few things that compare to a road trip on truly awesome scenic routes, and these members weren't afraid to rack up some miles in the process. From the plains to the mountains, these user rides and the scenery make for quite the collection of photo ops. Enjoy the following photos, and plan your own road trips across the country, find your open roads, and open up the throttle!

Starting off our trip is gilbybarr at this nice little rustic filling station in Rugby, Tennessee.

Right Out The Gate!

Member Zymurgy started his Vette's life on the open road. He took delivery in the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green Kentucky, then proceeded to drive it home to the Dallas/Fort Worth area by way of the Natchez trail, sticking to only backroads.

Fun fact: he picked his ride up the day after the sinkhole opened up inside the museum!

Racking Up Some Mileage!

Member Rebel Yell really stretched out his ride's legs, leaving his home base and heading on to Bowling Green for a tour.  They then left Kentucky for St. Louis to pick up Route 66, then drove westward to Tucumcari, NM. Their return trip home for a total of 5670 miles.  He says they were blessed with perfect weather for all but one day of that trip as well!

Meeting Fellow Owners

Another occurrence on road trips is coming across fellow owners and enthusiasts like our next couple of slides.

First, we have member OL2yellr who snapped off this pic with a fellow 'Vette in Southeast Oklahoma.

Meeting Fellow Owners Cont.

Fellow member 2016 first zo6 snapped this pic of his Shark Gray Z06 with a rare C7R while taking a break at a scenic overlook on the Palisades Parkway. Both rides are stunning.

Get Your Kicks

Of course, it's hard to think about a road trip in a Vette, and not think about Route 66.  I'm sure most of us have thought about driving the historic road, and many have actually gone out and done it.

On Route 66!

User blueray16 provided this sweet pic out on Route 66, he too took a long haul in his baby.

He traveled from New Jersey south to Chatanooga, Tennessee, then took I40 on to Pahrump with stops in Arizona on Rt 66, and then on to the Hoover Dam. His return leg had stops at Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, and Arches National Park, before taking I70 home. 14 days and 6000 miles, just call him the Road Warrior!

Closing Remarks

Road trips are nothing new and have been going on since the dawn of the automobile. They really gained traction in the 50's-70's, and almost became a right of passage for some or a way to find one's self for others. While the Interstate System may have taken away some of the popularity of a cross-country trek on Route 66, it definitely hasn't taken away its nostalgia.

Do yourself and your 'Vette a favor, and take her for a long haul.
