PD Supercharged C8 Shown Off at SEMA
The folks at Boost District are showcasing their latest creation: A C8 Corvette Stingray with a PD Supercharger kit.
Positive Displacement
The C8 Corvette may be the most hyped iteration of America's sports car ever. Supercar-caliber handling capability, mind-boggling straight-line speed, and the mid-engine looks to put the Italians to shame, it's no surprise that it has garnered so much attention. Naturally, the eighth-gen Corvette has also built up a strong aftermarket presence. Numerous turbocharged and centrifugal supercharger kits have been created. But Boost District have decided to do what many thought couldn't be done: A positive displacement supercharger kit!
Engineering Challenge
A positive displacement supercharger setup often requires additional space above the engine block. This would be a challenge, given the limited amount of space under the C8's rear hatch. But the great minds at Boost District have made it work! They've pulled it off by incorporating an Eaton TVS R2650 supercharging kit.
LT5 Homage
Interestingly, the kit has a top cover that features LT5 lettering! It's a subtle ode to the most powerful production Chevy power plant ever produced, and the unit under the hood of the amazing C7 ZR-1. It takes advantage of the Eaton TVS R2650 rotor pack to maintain the LT2's reliability. And with bolt-on heat exchangers, a quick-release pulley hub, and port injection provisions, it's a user-friendly setup as well.
Tunable Setup
It also allows builders the possibility to utilize different throttle body configurations. Working in collaboration with Anderson Dick of FuelTech, the folks at Boost District have fine-tuned the ECU for optimal performance with port injection. And they're working to bring more options to the market very soon.
Live at SEMA
The Boost District Supercharged C8 is currently on display at the SEMA Show within the Magnaflow booth. The aftermarket company is also working on a similar kit for the convertible version of the Corvette, which they're planning on launching next year.
