Serious Power

The C6 ZR1 has long been a favorite of Corvette fans for its old-school, hammer-like driving experience. Of course, that doesn't mean this particular car can't be made to go even faster, even if it can be sketchy to drive even without any additional modifications. Those sorts of things don't bother the folks at 1320Video, however, as this modified C6 ZR1 lays down some serious power on the dyno - and the track.

Teething Problems

Things haven't gone terribly smoothly with this particular build, however, which began experiencing teething problems at some point months ago. Thus, it would up on the back burner as our resident YouTubers turned their attention to a newly-acquired Audi R8. Now, the Corvette is back and better than ever after spending some time with a ZR1 specialist that got it sorted out.

Block Problems

Ultimately, the specialist discovered an issue with this car's block, which resulted in the installation of a new one. That certainly did the trick, as the crew couldn't figure out why the car wasn't responding to the modifications they had made to it before this surgery.

Mods List

The mods list for this C6 ZR1 is quite long, consisting of a ported blower, 102mm throttle body, larger injectors, an auxiliary fuel pump, a 14 percent lower pulley, a Kong intake, a bigger cam, a flex-fuel setup for E85, Kooks headers, and a new exhaust. However, before its fix, the car only made around 630 horsepower on the dyno.

Total Turnaround

That's obviously quite low for a car that was originally rated to produce 638 horsepower at the crank, but the fresh new block did the trick. Back on this dyno this time around, it gave some true numbers that are pretty impressive given the mods list.

Feeling Fast

After some tuning and playing around, the C6 ZR1 laid down a total of 889 horsepower at the wheels, which is a truly impressive number. Perhaps more importantly, the car now feels fast, which wasn't the case before everything was buttoned up.

Perfect Power Level?

Even with some worn-out tires, the car manages to run 6s in the eighth mile, so we imagine that it's going to be pretty darn impressive at the drag strip once it gets a fresh set of rubber. As the owner notes, this seems to be the perfect power level for this particular car, making it faster without going overboard, and who are we to disagree?
