This Custom SuperFly Corvette is the Most Unusual Corvette You'll See

If you're a Corvette enthusiast, then you've seen a few unusual ones here and there. However, this Corvette variant is sure to raise some eyebrows.

1. Dunham Coach

In a very unusual sighting, this 1979 Corvette was built by Les Dunham of Dunham Coach. Dunham specializes in off kilter car modifications, or as he likes to describe his specialties, "automobiles and anything that has wheels, wings, tracks or props." Dunham Coach works on metal, fiberglass, upholstery, and even unique, exotic paintwork. This Corvette is a result of his strange handy work.

2. Pimpmobile Culture

The Pimpmobile culture started in the early 1970s, and Les is one of the pioneers of this community. The Pimpmobile culture is all about extravagant luxuries, like fur, chrome, and crazy colors that you wouldn't normally see in cars. It is highly unusual to see a Corvette Pimpmobile, simply because only 50 of these cars were ever made.

3. Engine

This SuperFly Corvette has its L83 V8 engine that sends power to the rear wheels. In a very non-Pimpmobile fashion, this crazy Vette has a four-speed manual transmission and 200 horsepower and 285 ft-lbs of torque. Caballista, by the way, means "horse-man" in Spanish.

4. Condition

Believe it or not, this crazy Corvette is for sale, but we are not quite sure who would want it. The starting bid was $15,000, but the bidding ended and the seller had to re-list the SuperFly Pimpmobile after receiving ZERO bids. The Vette is back on the market, however, and the current bid is at $7,600 on eBay. The car has 74,646 original miles on it, and aside from some cracks and scratches, the crazy Dunham-built car is in a well-cared-for condition. Everything in the car still works, including the factory air conditioner, the power door locks and windows, and even the AM/FM Cassette stereo system.

5. SuperFly Features

Unlike many of Les Dunham's customs, the interior of this Corvette is stock, but the real SuperFly touch is on the body. The Corvette's exterior is hardly recognizable, thanks to the oversized, heavily-chromed bumpers in the front and the rear, the huge, also heavily-chromed grille, the crazy two-tone paint job, and the "strange" headlights and taillights. The only resemblance this Corvette has to an average '79 Corvette are the curves that flow from the front to the rear, but everything else is courtesy of Mr. Dunham himself, including the hood and mirrored T-tops.
