Top 5 Corvettes With Fastest Lap Times Around Nürburgring Nordschleife
Nürburgring Nordschleife lap times may not be as much of a point of emphasis for GM as they are for Porsche, but that doesn't mean Corvettes don't do well in the Green Hell.
5. C8 Corvette Stingray Z51 Performance Package - 7:29.90
Not every iteration of the Corvette gets put to the test at the world's most famous race track. But those that do, come out with impressive numbers. Currently holding the fifth spot in the ranking of top-performing Corvettes at the Nürburgring Nordschleife is the 2020 C8 Corvette with the Z51 Performance package. The GM-conducted test with Oliver Gavin behind the wheel saw the C8 lap the track in 7 minutes and 29.9 seconds.
4. 2009 C6 Corvette ZR1 - 7:26.4
In its time, the C6 Corvette took it to the world's best track-focused exotics and, more often than not, came out on top. Two generations of the sports car have since been introduced, but the 2009 Corvette ZR1 is still among the fastest cars in the world around the Nordschleife, with a time of 7 minutes and 26.4 seconds during the GM test.
3. 2012 C6 Corvette Z06 Z07 Package - 7:22.68
With a few updates to the C6 platform, the 2012 Z06 proved to be a formidable machine, beating the early ZR1 model by nearly 4 seconds during the manufacturer-conducted test of the Z07 package. The car's top lap time came in at 7 minutes and 22.68 seconds.
2. 2012 C6 Corvette ZR1 - 7:19.63
Just a few spots up the all-time rankings is the ZR1 of the same year. The 2012 Corvette ZR1 put in an impressive lap time of 7 minutes 19.63 seconds with Jim Mero behind the wheel. This lap time remains one of the most impressive of any car from that era and many years since.
1. C7 Corvette Z06 - 7:13.90
And that brings us to the fastest recorded lap by a Corvette at the Nordschleife. Unlike the previous laps on this list, which were HM-conducted tests, this particular performance was the work of the German magazine Sport Auto. This 2017 test had the Corvette lapping the Green Hell in just 7 minutes and 13.90 seconds.
We're eagerly awaiting the arrival of the C8 Z06 and higher-performance models in Germany to shake up the timing sheets a little bit.
