Special Machine

These days, the legendary twin-turbo Callaway C4 Corvettes have become hot collector's items following years of essentially being ignored. This is great news for those that own one, of course, many of whom have kept them in immaculate condition over the years with the notion that they'd eventually become valuable entities. However, as it turns out, these special cars are also pretty darn good at lighting up tires, as we can see in this video from Zephyr's Speed Shop.

Righting Some Wrongs

Back in this era, performance was hard to come by thanks to gas prices, smog rules, and an oil crisis, as even the Corvette could only be had with around 200 or so horsepower for some time. Callaway turned the world on its ear, however, by launching these mighty twin-turbo cars, which were available through dealers by opting for Regular Production Option (RPO) code B2K.

Nice Example

A grand total of 510 tune port-injected C4 Corvettes wound up being treated to the pricey B2K option, making each one rather rare today. This particular example is an nice one too, sporting just 46k original miles and having lived much of its life in Florida, clearly taken care of by its previous owner(s).

Define 'Enjoy'

This 1990 model Callaway twin-turbo Corvette is its owner's very first C4, but after learning how to enjoy it, it certainly won't be his last, as he admits. But while most would simply be babying such a special machine, that isn't the case here - rather, his definition of "enjoy" is a bit different than most.

Showing Off

Rather, he wants to take it out on the tarmac and give it the beans, getting sideways and lighting up the Goodyear tires as Callaway intended. Thus, that's precisely what he does in this rather entertaining clip, showing off what was essentially one of the best performance machines one could buy in this era.

Using It

This isn't just for show, however - in fact, the owner plans on driving his new acquisition in a number of ways, ranging from drag racing to autocross and even standing mile events.

Nice to See

With 382 horsepower and 562 pound-feet of torque on tap, the old Corvette should prove more than capable of performing admirably in any event it enters. And while we can appreciate that most people keep these cars locked away in pristine condition for future generations to enjoy, it's also nice to see one out there being driven as intended, too.
