Canadian Corvette

Further up North, further than the Dakotas and Maine, in Montreal Canada was a 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray for sale. Before this car could see a fifth year, it was rebuilt by B&B Corvettes to use in various racing events. The bright red paint with the silver racing stripe down the middle looks awesome. Overall, it looks like a great car (sans the tribute to Canada...Go USA!).

Bittersweet B-Racer

This second generation Corvette Convertible leaves a bittersweet feeling. By all accounts, it looks like an amazing car. However, it was an amazing car before being converted to a race car that has seen some great races such as the Camel GT and the Sears Point Grand Prix. With the dwindling number of C2 Corvettes on the roads, it leaves the question as to why?

But then we look back at two decades that were famous for racing and see that this Corvette has real history. Other cars from that era with similar history are extremely rare and sought after. This one was a real racer and is still as beautiful today as was in the late 1960's. This Corvette is more than an homage to the racing of the 1960's and 1970's, it is a racing veteran of that era!

A Closer Look

This 1966 Corvette has new fiberglass bodywork, a full roll cage, and has been lowered by one inch with the install of racing springs. Fender mirrors and rear wheel flares have been added while the bumpers and headlight have been removed. Stainless steel disc brakes show through the mean 15-inch mag wheels that accent the Goodyear racing slicks.

The Corvette cockpit has been stripped down to bare essentials, leaving a solo seat, an exposed roll cage and minimum gauges for operation. The windshield is just enough to divert the airflow over the racer's head. The nostalgic Corvette steering wheel is currently installed, but a racing steering wheel is included with the purchase.

Upgraded 327

The 327 cubic inch small block V-8 has been rebuilt and balanced. It provides the power to keep this Corvette in the races. In addition to a rebuild, the 327 has had some upgrades to include .060 overbore with forged pistons, new cylinders heads from Chuck Slover, and a plethora of other goodies to bring it up to a 12 to 1 compression ratio.  The shift pattern placard in the cockpit leads one to believe that the original 4-speed transmission is used. However, this is not the case as the original transmission has been replaced with a Borg Warner T-10 4-speed.

The four into one headers flow into the beautiful full side-pipe exhaust that runs along the bottom of the rocker panels and provides a mean sound that will undoubtedly create a stir.  Unfortunately, this Corvette is not street legal.

Sold!

The owner claims that since the rebuild, the drivetrain has not seen any competitions and has only been used for local events and parade laps.  It was recently sold in January 2018 for $62,000 and is being exported to Champlain, New York for a buyer in the United States.  Along with the car included historical racing memorabilia that includes time sheets, logbooks, and photos.
