What If GM Built a Corvette-Inspired Mid-Engine Camaro?

GM is closer to discontinuing the Camaro than making it mid-engine, but this is cool regardless.

Following Suit

Making the move to a mid-engine format was obviously huge for the C8 Corvette, even though certain forces within the automaker (read: Zora Arkus-Duntov) were trying to make it happen for years. The result is what everyone expected - an even better, faster, exotic, and more enjoyable version of America's sports car. And that had an artist named Rostislav Prokop wondering - what if GM did the same for its long-running muscle car, the Camaro?

Unlikely Exercise

Of course, rumors of the Camaro's demise have swirled for years now, and we wouldn't be surprised if the legendary model does go away at some point in the near future. Sales have dwindled, electrification is on the horizon, and designing a fresh-sheet model is costly. Regardless, we're digging the way this thing looks.

Blended Design

Much the way the mid-engine layout allowed designers to make the Corvette look like an exotic sports car, the same rings true for the Camaro. Its retro front end somehow blends in with what is largely just a C8 behind the front fenders, combining the more aggressive styling of the two in one interesting package.

Going Wide

Prokop didn't just mate a stock Camaro front end to a stock C8, however. He also gave it the car the ever-popular widebody treatment, as well as some restyled Rotiform wheels. Those enhancements just take it to another level visually, and at least in digital form, it certainly looks good.

Even Better?

Some will say it's blasphemy, or that it simply doesn't look right, but Prokop did receive a lot of positive feedback for his creation so far. Lots of folks actually prefer the way it looks to the C8, but we're not so sure if we'd go that far. Regardless, looks are subjective.

Just a Dream

The idea here is that GM could use the C8 as a base for the next-generation Camaro, saving it a ton of money in the process and presumably giving the Corvette's little brother a little less power and a smaller price tag. That sounds good in theory, but we're highly doubtful the automaker would actually do such a thing. Regardless, we can always dream, no?
