These cars are something else

One person is selling their collection of black Corvettes at Mecum Auction's Kissimmee sale that goes down starting tomorrow. The Best In Black Corvettes Collection includes two rare L88 C3s and nine others all clad in the same coat of piano black paint.

Head tuners throughout

The 1962 C1 pictured on the previous slide is valued at between $150-200k with a 5.4-liter V8 producing 300 horsepower that is far more powerful than the straight six that was originally installed. Then there is a 1965 C2 "Big Tank Fuelie" that is the only one made in this combination in existence. The estimated value of the rare C2 is said to be anywhere from $250-300K.

It's a '60s kinda thing

There is also a 1967 Stingray convertible with a 7.0-liter V8 that's good for 435 horsepower. Other Corvettes on the list are a 1960 convertible, a 1967 coupe, a 1966 coupe, a 1965 convertible and a 1969 L89 coupe. Many of the models are black on black, but some are decked out with red interior.

The cost of doing business

If you are interested in any of these models, you'd be best off taking a second mortgage on the house before logging in for the auction. These cars are in immaculate condition and some of them have very very low barely driven mileage on them. Experts are suggesting that at this point that the whole lot may go for at least $2.5 million.

Don't look now

That L88 pair that I mentioned at the start of this listing is selling as a package and are expected to go for as much as $1.3 million. The L88 twins will go across the block on the January 11th. To check out the Black collection and all the other Corvettes up for grabs, just click here
