1. The gory bits

If you follow the popular YouTube channel Vehicle Virgins then you've probably seen this lime green Z06 once or twice. Sadly, that maddeningly majestic maven of speed has met a painful end via an unmoving object.  That unmoving object, being a tree on the Huron River Drive west of Ann Arbor, Michigan, got to know the car from an unknown driver traveling at unsafe speeds. The YouTuber who has featured the car before, Parker Nirenstein, has borrowed the car on occasion from a close friend in order to make videos. According to reports a 21-year-old male driver and a 17-year-old female passenger were in the car at the time of the crash. They both suffered broken bones and were extracted from the wreck by emergency crews.

2. Speeding + public roads = bad idea

The wreck happened on a skinny bend along Huron River Drive, happened at 11:30 am on May 27, when police say the car was going too fast and the driver lost control. That road has a speed limit of 35 mph and according to folks who live in the area, that road is a common one for walkers, runners, cyclists, and motorcyclists to frequent.

3. Putting the pieces together

Jalopnik got in touch with Parker to get some more info on what happened and find some context as to who the driver was, but what they got was this: “Hi, he’s my close friend so I won’t be sharing any info to respect his privacy." The Corvette's actual owner is Jiefu Jefferey Gong and from the info on his IG posts comments I've gathered, it looks like he could have been the one that was actually driving at the time of the accident.

4. A sobering reminder to be careful

If you can stomach the wreckage photos, here is the link to the Ann Arbor local news that has full coverage of the crash site including the poor Vette being taken away on a flatbed. Also, if you have a drink in your hand, please pour a bit out for this amazing car that met its unfortunate fate at the hands of an inexperienced driver going way too fast on a public road.
