1964 Corvette Stingray Overview

The 1964 Corvette Sting Ray (oftentimes named as “Stingray,”
although this elided name refers to a later model of the same vehicle)
was part of the C2 group of Corvettes by the Chevrolet manufacturing
company. The C2 title indicates that the 1964 Corvette Sting Ray belongs
to the second major design group of Corvettes. The C2 design pattern
lasted from 1963 to 1967, and all of the vehicles within these model
years tend to resemble each other quite a bit. Therefore, 1964 model of
the Corvette Sting Ray differs more from vehicles built before 1963 and
after 1967 than it does from vehicles that were also a part of the C2
design group.

Unique Features to the 1964 Corvette Sting Ray

1964 models of the Corvette are the second ever designs for this
vehicle that were manufactured as a coupe car. Prior to the C2
generation, Corvettes had been designed as a smaller sports car with a
longer body. The 1964 model of the Sting Ray also features a unique rear
window design that is full length; previously, the rear window was
split into two separate sections and had a protective cover over a
portion.

Internally, the 1964 Corvette Sting Ray offers a powerful motor that
resembles that of the 1963 model of the car. 4 disc brake pads were not
introduced into the Sting Ray design plan until the following year,
1965, and so 1964 models of the Corvette Sting Ray do have slightly
inferior braking systems compared to cars that come after them.

1964 Corvette Sting Ray Specs

The maximum power of the 1964 Corvette Sting Ray was 375 bhp, which
was raised up from the previous maximum that had existed in the 1963
model. As a result, the 1964 model of the Corvette was the most powerful
vehicle in the Corvette family when it was first produced; the engine
was subsequently enhanced further when the C3 model was introduced in
1968.

The Corvette from the model year 1964 also has a Rochester fuel
injection system; this system was replaced by a big block design in the
1965 year.

The 1964 Chevrolet Corvette was designed for individual drivers and
couples alike. Due to the size of the vehicle and the lack of storage
space, this car is not particularly family friendly. However, it is a
powerful and driveable sports vehicle.
