Corvette Z06 vs BMW 6 Series

Yes. This just happened. A stock, seven-speed-manual Corvette Z06 has finally pulled off a 10-second quarter-mile; 10.9 seconds at 127 mph. Take that, Nissan GT-R Nismo.

Let’s take it back to the beginning of the month when Motor Trend did its “Head 2 Head” featuring the new Corvette Z06 and the 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo. The best quarter-mile time the publication could achieve with the GT-R Nismo was 11 seconds flat at 126.6 mph. Imagine that: an all-wheel-drive 600-horsepower Godzilla couldn’t even dip into the 10s.

In fairness, Motor Trend cracked off an 11.4-second quarter-mile at 124.4 mph with the 2015 Corvette Z06 for that comparison. I agree — not its best performance in the 1320, but with this 10.9-second run, the Z06 has redeemed itself.

Perhaps this achievement will pour a bit of Bose noise-cancelling technology into the room of cackling C7 Z06 haters.

Forum member “FLC6“, who posted this video, tells us the Z06 “is equipped with the Z07 package, which includes Michelin Pilot Sport Cup ZP tires.”

The run happened at Palm Beach International Raceway, where the temperature was 60 degrees. It likely was much hotter for that BMW 6 Series driver. Imagine finding yourself getting blown away by that Z06’s hellfire and brimstone blasting out of its exhaust. Swelteringly brutal.

Cheers to forum member “VinnieA” (Vincent Allegretta), the owner and driver of the Z06. Vinnie, you have moved the Z06 to new heights in the performance world, and you should be applauded.
