NHTSA huh?
Well..I think your wasteing your time filing a report there,I had a brake issue with my 05 that effected THOUSANDS of Corvettes and had mine repaired,it was a brake line rubbing on the manifold,I filed the report, talked to 3 or 4 people on my case and that was a year ago and guess what...NOTHING WAS DONE and never heard a word back.
The same results from GM customer NO service...maybe they are one in the same?

Hi all, I am also in the same boat with the fuel pump leaking fuel out. I am the point where I am looking to order the part after dropping the tank and inspecting the cracked plastic. This leads me to looking towards the experts here for some guidance. There seem to be multiple part numbers: 19302042 vs 19149687.

19149687 seems to be listed for all C6 models other than my 08 base ls3. So I am confused on which is the best part to replace oem pump with.

Any guidance is appreciated. Is there a forum sponsor best suited to order from?

Since you're in SA call Gunn chevy 599-5050 and ask for Matt. give him the last 8 of your vin and get their part number. it's probably the 19302042. then call full service on Broom Street 590-4040 and give them the part number chevy gives you. they'll most likely (as they did for me) give you the latest update. 19149687

the one I installed in my car 19149687 was labeled (on the pump) Z06/XLRV. I believe this is the C6 Z06 pump which will work on all of the C6 base models.

NHTSA is aware of this issue and they are monitoring it. However, not enough folks have filled out the NHTSA form for it to warrant a recall. This is the only means they have to track these failures, so please take the time to fill it out if you have had this issue.

Man, that's cynical..... Not trying to flame you, but I'd like to think that GM has learned something from the Cobalt fiasco? Also hoping against hope that Mary is better than previous CEO's and doesn't want to appear before "whoever" (Congress?) to explain her (GM's) non-action? I'm thinking there's gotta be a % thresh hold before most manufactures will do something, don't know. But it's really important that if anyone does experience the problem that they document it with NHTSA......
I've got an 08 and this is really freakin' me out, so I'm staying on top of this.
Just saying'

Cynical? Maybe. However, if I were an automotive manufacture and knew of a problem with gas leaks in a car I manufacture that could cause fires and burn down both cars and houses, I'd want to get it corrected as soon as possible. GM sure doesn't seem very interested in doing this on their own unless forced to by NHTSA. And I don't think they can claim they don't know about it either. Why do you think the fuel pump has been redesigned 3 or 4 different times. They are just playing the odds and hoping not enough folks will report it so they don't have to do an expensive recall. It's all about their bottom line. Safety still takes a back seat to $$.

We lost 10.6 billion dollars on their bail out but yet they don't want to address a legitimate safety hazard. They should be taking care of there customers. Not turn the blind eye

Oh by the way. Here is a picture of my Epoxy job. Actually a lot of work to drop the tanks again if it should leak again. But at this point I am still in experamentle mode.... I used Loctite Heavy Duty 5 Minute from Pep Boys. It is rated as fuel resistant and 3500 PSI. Only rated for 120 degress ferinheiht though. I will probably replace the entire fuel tank system with an electronic fuel level sender once I get it all designed....

I had this exact problem a few years ago with my 2008 and the dealer charged me close to $1200 to fix it even back then and said it was not warrantied.

Edit: Found my original thread on it from back then.

I don't know as I never had this done.
When I had auto trans serviced in order for them to remove the pan they had to drop the exhaust and lift up rear end.
