New 2007 C6, is first track day at a little over 500 miles OK?
Just picked up a 2007 C6 to replace my EVO, there's a track day in about 2 weeks I'd like to attend. Is a track day this soon a major no-no or should the car be ready?

if you have over 500 brake in miles, changed the oil, you should be fine.
Just take it easy and dont thottle the car too much, it is differnt then your old EVO. Have fun

the factory runs them in harder than you ever could.
the dealer boys also run them in very hard, especially if they have younger guys in the new car dept.
that's why your new car had 5-10 miles on it.

Just a thought but partly depends on how much track experience you
have especially at the track you are going to. If you have a lot, then
as noted take it easy, if you don't, then you probably aren't going to
push it beyond any reasonable limits. Have a good time!

Thanks for the replies, now I have to hope the weather stays clear
I'll definitely take it easy until I get to know the car, this will be my first track day in a RWD car so I'm know there will be some adjustment.

On the National Geographic Channel last night on the Ultimate Factory program. Although not our beloved Corvette, the program was still pretty good and worth watching.

Yak, I don't disagree, I've seen C5 coupes that have caused problems
for new drivers, but it is the exception, at least IMO. But I do agree
that the new Z is in another world. I got to coach one at Thunderhill
a few weeks back and it was an enjoyable day given that the owner
who had one previous track day was very aware of its potential and
took it easy all day. Of course taking it easy was faster on some of
the straights than I can get my C5 coupe doing going all out. It is
a weapon ...

It's a Z51 C6, not a Z06 so hopefully I'll be able to stay out of trouble. Thunderhill is actually the track I'll be at (and the only track I've been to).
Other than a first oil change, any recommendations (for safety and/or reliability) before the first track day?

With an Evo prior it seemed that you might have more track time. At
TH like every place else, the line is the key along with being smooth,
which means you need to go at it slow before it will feel smooth at
speed. There are many with more experience than I but I'd just keep
an eye on oil temps along with rest of the temps. When I started my
C5 I was doing 230's up into 240's early on and it took some time to
get the temps past 270's. That was when I added an oil cooler.
Checking the torque on the lug nuts is always a good idea, I know the
C5 is 100ft#s and always do in a star pattern, not just in a circle. There
is a good thread at the top on the basics and more.
If you are going to the THHPDE I may see you there.

This will be my fourth track day at Thunderhill. The HPDS events they run there are well organized and I enjoy them a lot.
I'm hoping the stock oil cooler in the Z51 package will be enough but I have read some people say they feel better cooling is needed.

Ran my 2006 C6 Z51 @ Reno-Fernley in July with 540 miles on it. Did an oil change and alignment before I went. I ran it at about 75% (I think) with TC and AH turned off. It was 102 degrees the first day and I never experianced any overheating. The second day the temp dropped to 94 and I finished with 5th fastest for the day. These cars are pretty forgiving.
