Default Why don't northern road courses do this?

http://www.dragway42.com/

or at least open them up for the sleds?

Going around NHIS, Lime Rock or RA would be a blast on a sled!
It's not like they make much $$$ in the winter.

Why limit it to sleds? Do they make Blizzaks in Corvette sizes?

Something tells me George wouldn't like sleds tearing up the expensive asfault that RA just put down. As long as they never used stud's it should be o.k., would be tough to see rumble strips under a foot of snow though.

No snow yet this year though.

I saw pictures of some guys doing Nurburgring on 4-wheelers in the snow a few years back.

I proposed winter sessions at the air base my Solo group
utilizes but there was not much interest. Something about
windchill and resetting cones.

However, there is an annual Driver's School event in Feb
held at a lake in the vicinity.

The club that I race with plows out the track. The track is about 30 feet wide because of "saftey reasons". The thing that they don't understand is we use every inch of track that we can. The edge of the tracks are most of the time very hard because they plow a few days before the events. It's like hitting a 3-6 foot curb. My only advise is to hit them straight as you can, or else it will get real quiet, untell the roof hits the ground. Leighton Reese (pro driver) in a tube framed turbo charged ice missle still has the record, the most amount of times going around 14 or 18 barrel rolls. Leighton was a many time national champion iceracer back in the 80's. Many pro racers from the great north have raced in the same club I am running.

Randy
PS If any of you guys are unlucky enough to be in MN during the cold monthes, come by and drive my car anytime. 6 feet or under because the CRXs have short roofs.

Try this out, it is the most fun that you can have in a car (with the possible exception of a memorable evening when I was a teenager and got to use the old man's Caddie on a date) with your pants on

Found out about NHIS
Don't know about LRP, but the surface at NHIS is so fragile that it is actually covered by large blankets for the winter. And if you were NASCAR would you want an errant cleat that had sunk deep into the surface to come out during a 40 lap green flag run? That would $uck for all involved.

Thumper
Perhaps they could run a separate course like the other tracks?

Give it a few weeks :-) I think I heard from someone that the Farmer's Almanac is calling for a snowy winter .
