Default Hoosier A3S05 Tires

How long would these tires last under 'normal' driving conditions?

How quick is very quick? I know they will not last 20K or 30K miles and I would not expect them to. I have a chance to pick up a set for a very good price. Just wondering how long they would last to see if the price would justify them or not.

a few hundred miles at best. Hoosers are not measured in miles but heat cycles. Each time the tire is up to opporating temperature is a heat cycle.

Most races sell them after 3-4 heat cycles or used 3 to 4 times. HPDE guys pick them up cheap and use them to 15-20 heat cycles or few hundred miles before they corded.

15 heat cycles at 20 min or 30 miles each = 400 miles or so

Or you drive an A tire on a hot day, there will be so much grip it will pick up evey loose stone and toss them on your rocker pannels and underside that you think there is a hail storm coming from the gound up.

They will last as long as the time it takes for a LEO to pull you over for bald tires.

And if you happen to drive thru a puddle, you will think that you're driving on a sheet of ice.

As far as good prices, I picked up a set of brand new A3S04's that were delivered to my door for $407. Even if you pay less than half that, you will be lucky to get a couple hundred miles out of them at best. These are autocross tires and are not designed for street use.

If you want some grippy street tires, look at the Kumho Ecsta MX.

Well thanks for the info everyone. I had the chance to buy a set of new 335/30R18 for $300 shipped, but think I will pass them up now.

Good call--they're definitely not street-worthy...
