TCC Video
TCC season opener at Grattan, Michigan next weekend. Thought I would post a video from last years race. Maybe we can entice a few of you NASA guys to join us. Want to race with 15 to 20 Corvettes?
A friend posted this for me, the resolution isn't very good. I am not sure why. Enjoy!!!

Man, you smoked 'em on the start! I've only had time to watch part of it so far, but that looks like a real tight track.
Was that a '96 Grand Sport in the video or a clone?

I was watching that race last year. Grattan is a track that is very daunting and challenging. I remember the first time that I went over Brown's Hill without braking. All 4 off the ground!! Lots of fun and great video. I would love to try running the TCC Traditional class in a C4 or somethin. Either way great stuff!

Falcon,
Actually, I am just really bad at qualifying. No that isn't a real grand sport, that is my brother with a replica paint job. Check out the end, it gets really close! Come join us at NelsonLedges.

I'm afarid I'd have to run in unlimited since I've removed most of the interior pieces and could no longer qualify for T1.

Just to clarify. We do not have an unlimited class. The prepared class allows ground affects, aftermarket brakes, and coil-over shocks. The rest of the car is pretty much stock with a beefed up motor. The block, heads, and intake are stock. The stroke on your crank must be stock length. You can use aftermarket crank, rods, pistons. You can port and pollish heads, valvetrain and cam are open. Our interiors are gutted.
How did you do against Craig Gelston? He is probably the fastest car in TCC. If your car doesn't meet all the rules, so what, you don't get points. Come and check us out, there will be guys to race with. Like any series, there are fast guys, mid pack guys, and slower guys. Unlike other series, there are 15 to 20 Corvettes to race against. Send me a pm, I will give you my phone number and lets talk!

I had to call Greg long distance he was so far in front when the race was over.
I know what you mean about having someone to race with. Being on track just racing yourself, regardless of where you are, is kind of boring.

So what happened to the poor sucker next to you on the start. At least it was a pretty car.
Good luck at Grattan, too bad I wont be there.

That green and yellow car? I went by it so fast I didn't have time to admire it! Is your son graduating high school? Time flies doesn't it. See you at Nelson.

I guess you have a nose for sale cheap!
I noticed something watching the video again after being there yesterday. It appears that you have the same issues in the same spots that I have in my C4. I'm all over C5's in the essess and fish bowl area, but lose them in the back, especially at the hairpin. I assumed that it was just me being off line, but maybe the C4 is strong in the twisty parts at Grattan and doesn't handle the hairpin well.
How did it go this past weekend?

Kind of confusing isn't it? The C5 is supposed to be the better handling car, but I seam to be making up ground in the twisty parts and losing it on the straight. Last year I was taking that carousel in 3rd gear. I was watching the video and decided they must be downshifting to 2nd there. They are just killing me there. So this year I went to 2nd and it helped. I came out of the hole much better. It is a tuff downshift though. Very hard braking, downshifting, 180 turn with a dropoff. Lots going on. Unfortunately, the track is so ruff on the lefthander going on to the main straight, that I can't seam to get the power down soon enough. So they are still getting away on the main straight and I am still catching them in the twisty parts.
In the race on Saturday, I broke the transmission on the last lap. No spare so I was done for the weekend. I think Grattan is in serious need of repaving. We had 2 C4's break rear ends, 2 C5's break rear ends, and I lost my trans. That is a lot of carnage for 1 weekend.

Hmmm. 2nd gear in the hairpin. Interesting. I don't think I could pull it off, I have a stock ZF6 tranny and a 4.10 rear gear. You can bet I'm going to try it, though. I'm back June 9/10 with NASA and competing against a lot of C5 Z06's.
