Sparco, Momo, or Cobra Seat?
Well I decided its time to use the car what it was built for, so the bling 19/20 wheels are being sold, ceramic brake pads are getting tossed, etc. I am pretty novice to road courses. I plan on going to gainesville with my friend a few times and taking my car out. I already hate the lack of support in my stock z06 seats but dont want to get an all out aluminum seat as I will probably leave the seat in there most of the time. So I was thinking about either the Sparco Evo, Momo Super Cup, or Cobra Imola GT. I am 6' 190lbs and have a 34" waste. Anyone have experience with these seats, I know the Imola and the Evo fit, not sure about the Super Cup, then there is the question of if I will fit in them. I was a little too big for Corbeau A4s when I tried those out in the past but fit perfect in a sparco fighter.
BTW my small mod list for the time being to at least get my car semi ready is:
Z06 brake pads
New Brake fluid w speedbleeders
18x9.5 18x11 wheels
side mounted driver racing seat
Harness Bar
5 or 6 point harness

If you have a chance fit into as many seats as you can.
Personally I found the higher the dollar the seat, the less supportive it was. ( not counting the ButlerBuilts. Those are by far IMHO the best seats)
I am 6-2 200 lbs with a 34" waist. I use an Ultra-shield 13 1/2" seat

I've used Cobra and Momo, but I LOVE my Kirkey Intermediate more than either, and it's half the cost. Aluminum seats are thinner, so they can sit lower than composite seats as well.

I sat in and liked that Sparco Fighter too. I ended up buying Corbeau FX1s because Livernoise ran a heck of a sale and I'm happy with them. What ever you get, invest in some IO Port seat back braces, they make the whole unit feel a lot more stable.

Not sure how liveable an aluminum seat would be on the street. I am just getting into basic road racing, maybe going once a month or so. I know I will be making some tradeoffs, but I want the car to be driveable on the road too..

I ran a Sparco Evo for 3 yrs before switching to a Kirkey. The Sparco is a great seat, very comfortable.

6' 3'' and 260. We use the Cobra Monaco S and very happy with it. 38'' waist and my co-driver is a bit bigger than me and the Cobra has been one of the best mods to date.

Bringing an old thread back to life, but.....
Polishdude, did you ever deccide on something?
Everyone else, are there any reclining seats out there that have slots for sub belts also?

I would run a few more events then see if you really like it. I have a Kirkey Deluxe which is great. You can swap them fairly easy.

I've been searching the forums, but I can't get some of the questions answered.
I wouldn't mind talking to you and asking you a few questions if you had the time.

After trying multiple seats I finally learned to stop trying to do dual duty... a street seat sucks on the track and a track seat, for the most part, sucks on the street.
I'm running an Ultrashield Pro Road Race w/ Hardbar seat rails... it's amazing. I can sit very lower and can get a proper seat that my 6'4" 250lb self can fit it. I no longer have to look into the rear view mirror and my knees no longer do battle w/ the steering wheel.
Swapping back to the stocker takes 10 minutes.

Agree with idea of swapping. I debated for a long time whether I could live with 1 seat 100% of time. Too much of compromise either way. Got Kirkey Road Race seats and love them on the track. Swap quickly (I'm slow so it takes a little longer than 10 min but not much).

I've got a Corbeau FX1 Pro and on track it is fine. 30 minutes stints no problem. Works very well and the price is hard to beat. The commute to tracks that are 4-6 hours away is not very comfortable. If I could find a race seat that is more comfortable I'd probably just leave it in the car.
Is the Kirkey really that comfortable? Intermediate or Deluxe?
Here is my problem. That back is too flat on the Corbeau even with the kidney pads. I've tried carious lumbar supports and it isn't quite right. I have a bad disc at L5/S1. Bottom of your spine. So my lower back gets tired and sore sitting in these things. So I need support in that area and more padding since I'm a bony a**ed little guy. I don't care how hard it is to get in and out of the car if the seat fits great. I'm willing to spend more money this time but $2K seat is out of the question. $1K with seat and Gary's rail kit is about what I'm willing to spend.
