Any Trouble Bolts for Tracked Cars?
I know it's a good idea to give everything a good once over now and then for those of us who track our cars, but has anyone ID'ed any particular fasteners that are often loose when you check?
I just figure it would be nice info for all of us to know where we should be extra careful looking things over.
I can't say I've ID'ed any yet (other than lugs of course).

I agree they should all be checked Randy....we both know that. But I'm hoping for particulars here.

If I only had X amount of time to check things this would be my order.
1. Brake bolts, first off because they are all blind holes which have the greatest chance of becoming lose.
2. Then the lower control arm bolts, well they just have a hard life in a roadrace car
3. Swaybar end links, mostly the rod-end type. They just loosen up.
4. dampener bolt, you can draw a line across it and just take a look!
5. Well the rule of thumb in prep is to work as hard as long as you can until the day the car hits the track.
Ok in answer to your question, I haven't notice any crazy bolt failures. These cars are very well put together. Cars that have been apart too many times can run into problems if the hardware hasn't been replaced.

It is not a bolt, but the most common failure I find is the wheel hub assembly.
Check your hub flanges for signs of cracking. I seem to crack mine fairly regularly.
You need to pull the rotors and look at the corner of the flange the wheel lugs are on where it attachs to the round center portion of the hub. In that 90 degree corner is where they crack with heavy track use.
Other than that, the only thing I notice that comes loose are the bolts on the ends of my T1 sway bars.
Fastest regards,
Oli

hub bolts (the torx bolts on the back) seem to come loose a lot. If the lower bolts comes loose, it can jam up against the ball joint nut, and getting it all back together properly can be a really PITA
