Camaros, Challengers and Mustangs to Busch

Sounds good, it also sounds like they reinvented TransAm
Nascar owns GranAm.
Same rules or are they going to be the tube framed cars like the later TransAm cars?
This would save the teams a lot of money.
I hope they won't be the same silhouette race cars with headlight stickers being the only difference.

“That way, out top three divisions each have their own models,” said a NASCAR source, who said the new models will be built on the old-style NASCAR Nextel Cup chassis, which are in plentiful supply as the Cup Car of Tomorrow will make the older Cup cars obsolete next year.

No not trans-am... IT even says the busch series will us the old nextel cup car frames... more tube cars with stickers...
Although Hotrod Magazine strongly floated the idea of sponsoring and/or reviving a type of Trans-Am racing with Showroom STock cars (with jsut the addition of safety equipment)..
Now that would be GREAT!!!

This is not a new concept for NASCAR, they've actually already tried this in the early 70s and it was known as the "Grand American Series" (there is a method to their madness) series where Camaros, Mustangs, and various other Pony Cars raced against each other on ovals as well as some road courses! Sometimes the were even run in conjunction with and IMSA Camel GT races, I mean after all IMSA was owned by NASCAR!! I think that it is a great idea as far as trying to create some more excitement in the series. Just am curious how they execute it. I hope they don't try to strech the new Camaro body around a COT chassis!!!
As for the Trans-Am I would venture to say that there would be a better chance that the current Speed World Challenge will be re branded as the new Trans-Am series around 2009 when all the new pony cars are avail. I hope with some pretty good factory involvement!

Tons of Cup and Busch not ready for HPDE is what I see. That would be a safe car. It will probably be more popular than COT if they have different bodies and not just decals.
